From sEvery stop tart to finish this tour was incredible. Every stop was better and more breatht taking than the last. We saw moose, caribou, sheep, eagles, and oh so many bears. Being in a van with eight strangers who qjuckly became friends was incredibly fun. We felt very lucky that we gelled so well. We saw Denali in iall its magnificence. Most of all our tour guide Kelsy Kelly was unbelievable She was so knowledgable (we never stumped her). She had an eagle eye no pun intended). She was able to drive and talk and spot wildlife that no one else saw and sull over before we even knew why. Then she would set up her telescope and show us wondrous sights. She knew all the best places to eat, she was incredibly tuned in to all of our needs, and she made all of us feel cared for.
My husband and I just completed the 9-day Ocean Wildlife to Interior Wilderness Adventure in Alaska. This is our second Brushbuck tour, and they provided us with another incredible experience. From the moment we booked the tour, Patti ensured that the accommodations were explained, made recommendations for trip insurance, processed our payments, and booked our excursions for the “Activity Days”. Once we arrived in Anchorage, our guides, Anthony and Chris, picked us up at our hotel and started our adventure. We had lunch together for introductions to the others in our group and to set expectations and discuss the details of our trip. David and I were traveling with our friends, Mark and Stephanie, and we were so grateful to also have Elly, Leslie, and Samantha as part of our adventure. We had an outstanding group of individuals that we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know. We also had two outstanding guides (Anthony and Chris) who truly have a passion for what they do and seek the best experience for their clients. The Denali leg of the tour was incredible. It’s hard to explain the majesty of Denali; you just have to see it. We had a bus tour into the park where we saw caribou, moose, bears, Dall sheep, ptarmigan, bald eagles, and the only active dog sledding team in a National Park. For our grand finale of Denali, we selected the helicopter tour, which landed on the Yanert Glacier. I highly recommend the helicopter tour! We named our tour group “The 30% Club”, as only 30% of visitors get to see the peaks of Denali, and we saw it multiple times during our time near the park. Not only were we blessed with a wonderful group of people and guides, but we also had incredibly clear weather. We then traveled to the seaside town of Seward. While in Seward, we took a day trip on a boat through the Kenai Fjords. There were incredible views of mountains and glaciers, humpback whales, harbor seals, and too many types of birds to list. Absolutely stunning scenery! The sight and sound of a glacier calving is something you cannot imagine unless you experience it. Our next adventure was to Homer. We saw moose and bald eagles everywhere. The views of the Cook Inlet, Iliamna Volcano, and Redoubt Volcano were amazing! The Homer Spit was an eclectic village and marina with a variety of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed great food and service. The following morning we boarded a float plane for the final journey to Bear Mountain Lodge. Bear Mountain Lodge was the grand finale. What an incredible experience! If you want to be off the grid and see coastal brown bears in their natural environment, up close and personal, this is the place to be! The flight in our float plane from Homer across Cook Inlet and into Chinitna Bay to Lake Clark National Park was beautiful. Again, we were blessed with great weather, and the view was clear for miles. Upon our touchdown in Chinitna Bay, we were greeted by the owners of Bear Mountain Lodge. Merrill, Marty, Mac, and Angie are the most welcoming hosts you could ask for. They are passionate about wildlife and the environment and are extremely knowledgeable about everything Alaska. We saw 49 bears in 48 hours at the Lodge! Mac had us in the right places for a heart-pounding experience, incredible viewing, and photographic opportunities of the bears. Angie is a world-class cook, and we ate like royalty for the time we were at Bear Mountain Lodge. Our experience here was so memorable and we solidified true friendships among our group. If you have a chance to experience a Brushbuck tour, I highly recommend that you give them a chance. I feel certain that you won’t be disappointed.
We chose Brushbuck to visit Alaska after using the company for amazing Yellowstone and Grand Tetons tours in years past. We opted for the 9 day tour over the 5 day because of the segment that includes Lake Clark National Park and an additional day in Denali. We made a very wise choice. Our extra day in Denali gave us the opportunity to include multiple optional activities. We chose flight seeing over Denali. Although it was an expensive add on, it was well worth it. The flight was beyond description! Lake Clark is one of the most memorable experiences ever! The numbers of bears and cubs were too numerous to count. Staying at the Bear Mountain Lodge is like visiting family, a warm and inviting atmosphere with extended time to observe bears in their natural habitat. Our guide Haeli was more than extraordinary. We arrived as clients and left as friends. She is knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and thoughtful. She anticipates every possible need. Her passion for nature and wildlife is clearly evident. Haeli has the incredible ability to spot wildlife in every setting. She was as excited as anyone at each siting. She was joined by Diego, another experienced Brushbuck guide, training for Alaska. Diego was terrific. I wouldn’t consider him a trainee, it was like having a bonus of having 2 great enthusiastic guides. We had such a great experience that we are now exploring the Africa Brushbuck trips.
The 9 day tour was worth every penny. The company did all the work so we could simply sit back and enjoy. The trip ran very smoothly. Our Guide Andrew was very knowledgeable of the area and its surroundings. He picked up on our personal interests and pointed out what we truly enjoyed vs just a routine tour. He was very respectful and always on time. The places and activities the company chose were well thought out and are the best spots to visit. Having options on which activities to explore also made the trip feel more custom to our interests. We chose the helicopter glacier landing, FJords Cruise and white water rafting. These activities combined with Bear Lodge and other spectacular locations that the company has provided made this trip an unforgettable well rounded and worthwhile way to see Alaska.
We are thrilled to hear you had an incredible time on tour! Thank you for your review and kind words about Andrew. We will let him know what you said!
Had a great time exploring Alaska! Andrew is an awesome guide and was always pointing out wildlife before the rest of us. The weather couldn’t have been better during our nine days. We saw bear and moose in Denali, whales and otters on the Fjord cruise and plenty of bears at the Bear Lake Lodge! Thanks Brushbuck for an awesome tour!
We are so glad you had a great time on tour! Those are some awesome animal sightings. Thank you for your kind words and recommendation!
Our family went on a day-trip with BrushBuck a couple of years ago when we were visiting Yellowstone/Grand Tetons. They did not disappoint then and absolutely exceeded our expectations this time! We had an exceptional wildlife tour with Andrew McCrea on our 9-day Alaskan Adventure! He is most knowledgeable of all things Alaska and has a good eye for spotting the hard-to-see animals. We saw numerous bears, eagles, moose, caribou, sperm whales, orca and other many other animals too numerous to list. Alaska scenery took our breath away with its beauty. The final days spent at the remote bear viewing lodge was a fantastic finish to a great experience. I highly recommend the BrushBuck team and hope to join them again for our next family adventure.
Thank you for your review and for joining us in Alaska! We love hearing about all the amazing sights you saw and we will make sure Andrew knows you had an incredible time! We would love to have you and your family on tour with us again!
This was our first trip to Alaska and it did not disappoint. We were fortunate enough to have great weather every single day and the wildlife viewing was fantastic. Cade was our guide and his knowledge of EVERYTHING was staggering. Ask him about any town in Alaska, the mating habits of bald eagles, the lifespan of a brown bear, what kind of clouds were in the sky-he knew the answer! He was by far the best guide we have ever had the pleasure of traveling with. He is fun, funny, easygoing and very accommodating, esp for all our bathroom and snack stops along the way. His ability to spot wildlife is uncanny and as a result we were able to get some outstanding photos. My husband and I are (amateur) photographers and we brought our heavy long lens but it was well worth it because we got so many photos-close to 1000. Highly recommend the 7.5 hour boat tour in Seward (don't forget your Bonine). We saw so many amazing things and the captain of the boat narrated much of the time which was super interesting. We took the whitewater rafting trip which was fun. The rafting company provided dry suits so no bathing suit or water shoes were needed. We also took the ATV trip. My husband loved it, me, not so much. He wanted to keep driving the ATV around town. The trip is very dusty, no wildlife on that trip but the views are breathtaking. Overall, this was a great trip. The group we ended up with got along very well and we all had such fun. Can't say enough good things about Cade and Brushbuck in general. We may aim to take the Yellowstone trip next year!
We are thrilled to hear you had a great time on tour! Thank you for your kind words about Cade. We will let him know what you said. We hope to see you on a Yellowstone trip in the future!
Cade Castle! He’s the key that unlocked this amazing trip! This 9-day tour was without a doubt my favorite trip, EVER! Cade is absolutely the reason we had such amazing wildlife viewing, laughter, and so much fun! This trip with Cade was no accident, my husband and I were lucky enough to have Cade as our guide last summer for our Grand Teton/Yellowstone tour with BrushBuck! Cade was so engaging on that trip and the wildlife viewing was phenomenal! We know wildlife doesn’t always cooperate, but Cade really has an eagle eye and always had us viewing something! We really felt a connection with Cade so we booked Alaska! Alaska is truly a special place and Cade made it all the more special. He truly loves what he does and is so passionate about wildlife and the outdoors. He is full of knowledge and happy to share it, answer questions, and he’s always smiling and happy! Again, he always had us viewing something! I also have to give kudos to Patti for all the behind the scenes work she does to get everything booked and answer any questions about the trip! The wildlife viewing, the weather, the other couples on our tour, everything was just perfect! We are now members of the 30% Club since we Denali was 100% in view!!! I highly recommend the Denali Peak Experience and the Kenai Fjords Marine Tour! The bear watching the last 2 days/nights was INCREDIBLE! Merrill, Marti, and Mac were amazing hosts! The food, company, relaxed vibes, and of course, the bears, couldn’t have been better! If there was a longer tour, we’d go back for it! YOLO…BOOK THE TOUR!!!
We are thrilled to hear you had an amazing time on tour. Thank you for your review and your kind words about Cade. We will let him know what you said. We hope to see on tour again in the future!
Wow! If you are wanting a true Alaskan adventure, this is it! I am a wildlife/landscape photographer and absolutely loved this trip. The views were magnificent and we saw a lot of wildlife. We had lots of opportunities and our guide, Cade Castle made the trip fantastic!
We are so glad you had a great time on tour! Thank you for your review and kind words about Cade!
Alaska with Cade as our guide was an exceptional experience. He spotted so much wildlife and put everything on his scope and shared his pictures with us all. He made the trip even more special with his knowledge, kindness, sense of humor, and suggestions. Alaska itself was awesome, especially the bears and eagles at Clark Lake, and the marine tour out of Seward where we saw orca and humpbacks and puffins and glaciers and…. Denali was in full view for us. We loved this trip and highly recommend it and Brushbuck Tours and Cade.
Wow! Those are some awesome animal sightings! We are so glad you had a great time on tour. Thank you for your kind words and recommendation!
