Willkommen auf dem größten Platz am offenen Meer in Europa (12280 Quadratmeter!). Der Platz ist so schön, dass es sich lohnen würde, nach Triest zu kommen, nur um ihn zu sehen. Aber es gibt noch viel mehr zu sehen!
Ein antikes römisches Tor, das wahrscheinlich auf das 1. Jahrhundert n. Chr. zurückgeht und in den alten Mauern der römischen Tergeste, die von Augustus 33 v. Chr. erbaut wurden, geöffnet wurde.
Sie steht auf dem Gipfel des gleichnamigen Hügels, der bereits die Akropolis der römischen Stadt Tergeste war und wahrscheinlich eine heilige Stätte darstellte. Das heutige Gebäude mit fünf Schiffen ist das Ergebnis der Vereinigung zweier getrennter religiöser Komplexe im frühen 14.
Eines der repräsentativsten Symbole der Stadt, das Schloss San Giusto, steht auf dem gleichnamigen Hügel und überblickt die Stadt, den Golf und das Hinterland. Die Eintrittskarte (nicht inbegriffen) kostet 6 €: Wenn Sie einen schönen Blick auf den Golf genießen wollen, ist es das wert!
Das römische Theater von Triest liegt am Fuße des Hügels San Giusto, im Herzen der Stadt, am Rande des historischen Viertels.
Im 19. Jahrhundert war dieser Platz das wirtschaftliche Herz von Triest. Heute ist es ein eleganter Platz mit mehreren interessanten Gebäuden und einigen interessanten Fakten, über die ich Ihnen berichten werde!
Beeindruckendes Gebäude im Zentrum der Stadt. Die Kirche St. Spiridione ist in Form eines griechischen Kreuzes gebaut, das den byzantinischen Stil der östlichen Kirchen widerspiegelt, und hat eine zentrale Kuppel, die höher ist als die vier Glockentürme.
Die gemeinhin als "Sant'Antonio Nuovo" bezeichnete Kirche hat ihren Namen von einer früheren Kirche aus der Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts. Die zwischen 1828 und 1849 erbaute neue Kirche wurde von der klassischen Majestät bedeutender römischer Monumente inspiriert.
Der 370 Meter lange und 28 Meter breite Canal Grande ist das Symbol der Stadt: ein Spaziergang an seinen Ufern ist ein Muss!
Ein über 200 Meter langer Steg über dem Meer, ein magischer Ort, um zu jeder Tages- und Jahreszeit spazieren zu gehen und Sauerstoff zu tanken. Lassen Sie sich von den herbstlichen Sonnenuntergängen verzaubern, wenn sich die Paläste der Rive rot färben, oder, wenn Sie ein echter Draufgänger sind, rennen Sie mit 100 km/h durch die Bora, um die Spitze der Windrose zu erreichen und zu sehen, ob Sie es schaffen!

Matteo is an excellent guide. The explanation was very thorough, providing detailed historical information, curiosities, and various details about the attractions of the place, including places to eat. The Viator application needs improvement because I was unable to connect directly to the link, not even allowing me to copy the address. Therefore, I had to search for the address multiple times on the internet, writing everything by hand and always entering the same data. Inconvenient while on the go! Sonia.
This was an excellent walking tour of Trieste, lots of interesting places to visit, plenty of historical information but not so much that you felt overloaded. You could go at your own pace so there was never a feeling of being rushed. It was easy to download and was great value for money. I would definitely recommend this tour.
This is the first time we used a self guided audio tour. On the whole, it was better than nothing but I probably wouldnt use this one again. The information given was done using an AI voice , there was no variation in tone of voice or speed which made it difficult to understand. There was a complete lack of stories that you would normally have during an in person walking tour and as such it felt like information overload.

However, with this option (which costs less than a pizza 🍕), you get: 👉🏻a pre-written and tested itinerary 👉🏻info on the main monuments and their curiosities 👉🏻info on typical dishes and local restaurants 👉🏻the flexibility to take the tour at your own pace. It was great to see many interesting things at a personal pace and receive descriptions of great interest.
We unexpectedly found ourselves in Trieste as our cruise itinerary was changed last minute so we went on Viator to look for walking tours and found this one. Very informative with both print as well as audio options and we got to see alot. Only recommendation-advise in Viator that this is a Self guided tour (no actual person/guide) AND thar you can start at any time. When we booked that wasn’t made clear. The link that is sent to download is a little cumbersome (could use a little clearer explanation) but once we started it was great! After the tour we took a bus (less than 2 Euros each way) to see Grotto Gigante about 25 mins up the mountain which was well worthwhile!
We were not impressed with the Trieste self guided tour we did. The company had obviously hired an American to read the script about Trieste, and it was just awful. Clearly the guy knew nothing about Trieste, and his pronunciation of all of the Italian locations in the tour was embarrassing. He could not even say Trieste properly. Any Italian listening would have been appalled.
