Der Nationalpark Plitvicer Seen ist ein besonderes geologisches und hydrogeologisches Phänomen. Die Plitvicer Seen wurden am 8. April 1949 zum Nationalpark erklärt. Dies ist der größte, älteste und beliebteste kroatische Nationalpark. Er umfasst ein bewaldetes Berggebiet, in dem es 16 Seen in verschiedenen Größen gibt, gefüllt mit kristallklarem blauem Wasser. Die Seen werden gespeist aus zahlreichen Bächen und sich durch Kaskaden und Wasserfälle miteinander verbunden. Barrieren, die sich über einen Zeitraum von zehn tausend Jahren entwickelt haben.

Die Plitvicer Seen sind der älteste und größte Nationalpark der Republik Kroatien. Der Park liegt in der Bergregion Kroatiens, zwischen dem Mala Kapela Gebirge im Westen und Nordwesten und dem Lička Plješivica Gebirge im Südosten. Administrativ fällt der Park in zwei Landkreise: Lika-Senj (90,7%) und Karlovac (9,3%). Mit seiner außergewöhnlichen Naturschönheit hat dieses Gebiet seit jeher Naturliebhaber angezogen und bereits am 8. April 1949 wurde es zum ersten Nationalpark Kroatiens erklärt. Der Prozess der Tuffbildung, der zur Bildung von Tuff- oder Travertinbarrieren führt und zur Bildung der Seen führte, ist der herausragende universelle Wert, für den die Plitvicer Seen am 26. Oktober 1979 mit ihrer Inschrift auf international anerkannt wurden der UNESCO-Welterbeliste. 1997 wurden die Grenzen des Nationalparks erweitert und umfasst heute eine Fläche von knapp 300 km2. Der Park ist hauptsächlich von Waldvegetation bedeckt

Very smooth experience, due to his excellent communication prior, and detailed explanation to make sure we knew where to walk and suitably prepared. Also great that he checked how we were going on our hike and making sure we were going the right direction. Very polite and professional. We had an amazing time and the national park was stunning! William picked us up right in front of the cruise port on time (early even) in a nice air conditioned car. He took us to the Plitvice Lakes and once arrived he explained what paths to take and approximate time it would take. He was then waiting for us as soon as we were ready to head back out. Overall, good conversation and good experience!
