Wir besuchen Thailands berühmtesten schwimmenden Markt: Damnoen Saduak. Bei Ihrer Ankunft steigen Sie in ein traditionelles Langheckboot für eine Fahrt durch die Kanäle ein und bieten einen Einblick in das Leben entlang der Wasserstraßen. Der Damnoen Saduak Kanal wurde 1866 von König Rama IV. in Auftrag gegeben, um die Flüsse Mae Klong und Tha Chin zu verbinden und den Wassertransport zwischen den Provinzen Ratchaburi und Samut Sakhon zu verbessern. Fotografien dieses bunten und geschäftigen Marktes gehören zu den am meisten verbreiteten in Reisebroschüren über Thailand. Während der Markt heute hauptsächlich Touristen anspricht, bietet er mit seiner lebendigen Atmosphäre, Booten und Kanalszenen immer noch ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Wir schlendern über den Markt und sehen, wie der Zug ankommt oder abfährt, bevor wir zurück nach Bangkok fahren. Die Gesamtzeit, die Sie hier verbringen können, beinhaltet die Reisezeit zwischen Damnoen Saduak und Maeklong Railway Market und vom Maeklong Railway Market zurück nach Bangkok (ca. 1,5 Stunden - je nach Verkehrssituation).
Wat Bang Kung ist berühmt für seine kleine Kapelle, die vollständig von den Wurzeln eines Banyanbaums namens Bot Prok Po umgeben ist. Es ist fast so, als ob der Baum selbst die Säulen des Tempels wäre und dass die Kapelle ohne die Wurzeln einstürzen würde. Sie können auch hineingehen, um der Buddha-Statue Respekt zu erweisen. Das Tempelgelände diente einst als Marinefestung und war im 18. Jahrhundert Schauplatz einer erbitterten Schlacht zwischen Siam und Eindringlingen aus Burma. Heute ist das Tempelgelände auch ein Denkmal für das Heldentum der Krieger.

Nach Ablauf dieser Schonfrist beginnt der Fortgeschrittener die Tour. Sollten Sie es nicht rechtzeitig schaffen, teilen Sie uns dies bitte vor Tourbeginn mit. Wenn möglich, werden wir unser Bestes tun, um Sie für den nächsten verfügbaren Zeitfenster oder Tag zu verschieben, obwohl eine Umbuchungsgebühr anfällt. Bei verspäteter Ankunft wird keine Rückerstattung geleistet.
- Damnoen Saduak ist heutzutage unbestreitbar touristisch, und obwohl es sich nicht mehr vollständig authentisch anfühlt, bleibt es einer der besten Orte, um einen schwimmenden Markt zu erleben.

This was a visit to the floating market and railway market. We were very lucky that there were only the two of us on trip, so we had the exclusive services of Paul, our guide and Maue our lady driver. Apologies if I got the spelling wrong. I visited the floating market 40 years ago when it was an actual working market and was surprised to see that now it's purely a tourist attraction and the only things on sale were souvenirs. Having said that, I suppose it's great that they managed to preserve it in some form and it's very pleasant to take a boat trip through the market stores which last time wasn't really possible. Paul was a brilliant guide. He was very cheerful, very funny, full of energy and we exchanged some interesting stories with him. The driving was also perfect. We did get to see a couple of other things which was very nice, a tree which had grown into a 400-year-old monastery building covering it with roots and branches. Also a seafood fish market. The train thing was okay but much like others I have seen in Hanoi. Expensive restaurants on the side of the tracks while you wait for a train to come past. Only downside is it's a bit of a long trek to and from, about an hour and a half each way but the car was very comfortable and air-conditioned
