Hello Sawadeeka83! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Proyecto Asís is not a traditional zoo. We are a Wildlife Sanctuary whose primary mission is to provide care for animals that have been injured, orphaned, confiscated from illegal captivity, or otherwise cannot be returned to the wild. The entrance fee directly supports the daily care, specialized diets, veterinary attention, and habitat maintenance for these animals. We understand that visitors looking for a large collection of animals may find the experience different from what they expected. Our focus is on education, conservation, and learning about the individual stories of the animals in our care. Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you the best in your future travels.
Great experience! Highly recommend. Carlos was fun and informative and really engaged the kids in the mission of the rescue!
I visited Proyecto Asis during my stay in La Fortuna, and I can honestly say this was one of the most meaningful experiences of my trip. This is not just a wildlife tour — it’s a place with a purpose. Every animal and bird you see has a story, and hearing those stories completely changes the way you look at them. You don’t just observe — you understand. What touched me the most was the people. The team here is incredibly passionate, and you can feel it in every word they say. Their love for animals, for nature, and for what they do is genuine and deeply inspiring. It’s rare to see people so connected to their work — it doesn’t feel like a job, it feels like a calling. There is something very powerful about being in a place where compassion and care are at the center of everything. You leave not only with knowledge, but with a completely different perspective. What they do here matters. It’s important, it’s needed, and it deserves support. If you are in La Fortuna — don’t miss this. Truly.
Excellent place, the treatment of Bradley lovely for all family members. History, information, everything. Thank you very much
This was hands down the best activity of our trip to Costa Rica. We learned so much from our incredible guide, Carlos. This is not a zoo- this is a non-profit doing amazing work to rehabilitate and release wild animals (most were once kept as pets). We started with a tour where Carlos taught us all about the animals, their backstories, and the plans for their eventual release. Then we helped prepare their breakfast as part of an enrichment activity, and got to watch them eat. After this, Carlos took us to the protected area nearby where you can view sloths in the wild. There is no gaurantee a sloth with be there, but we were lucky enough to see one. We learned so much and I’m so glad we got to spend the day with these incredible animals. Our kids (10,8 and 8) had a blast - this is a fun activity for the whole family and you are supporting a great cause. Thanks again Carlos- pura vida!
Our family did it all—the sloth tour, wildlife tour, volunteering, and the homestay—and it was an amazing experience. The rescue center has a great mission, and it’s clear they genuinely care about the animals. The guides were fun, knowledgeable, and made the tours really enjoyable. We learned a lot about Costa Rica’s wildlife. I’d definitely recommend both the tours and volunteering. The homestay was a highlight. We were welcomed like family and got a real look at local life, which made the experience even more special.
This experience was unforgettable... the wildlife that have been rescued and their stories were heart-warming, but there are bonus other free wildlife yoi can see as you are guided around. Highly recommend and a big thank you to Bradley for an amazing experience.
Excellet tour with Carlos this afternoon. Lots of details about the work of the rescue center and lots of information about the Costa Rican wildlife. Carlos was also very funny and helpful! Great experience!!!
We had an amazing tour last week with Carlos, and our entire family learned so much about wildlife in Costa Rica and the incredible work they do at Proyecto Asis. Carlos was very knowledgeable and funny, and our kids (ages 12, 9, and 8) really enjoyed his stories and the experiences he shared with us. It's clear he's very passionate about what he does, and we were all inspired by the important work him and his colleagues do to help get animals back in the wild. We chose the tour where you volunteer after and were treated to a nice refreshment break before we helped make food for the animals, and then got to walk around with Carlos while he gave our prepared foods out. Truly fascinating to watch their behaviors when it comes to food - extremely memorable experience! Our kids continued to share information they learned from Carlos throughout the rest of our time in Costa Rica, to share with guides on other tours when we saw some of the animals in the wild. It was most definitely one of the highlights of our trip!
We booked this on a day we didn’t have filled and it turned out to be one of the best we did. Carlos gave us an excellent informative tour about the important work they are doing and how they help the animals get back to the wild. In addition, he added on some of the sloth tour where we saw several. These guys are doing such important work. It’s a rare treat to see so many up close as a counter point to seeing them in the wild. Don’t miss this if you love animals.
