Ihr Reiseleiter holt Sie von Ihrem Hotel ab und fährt Sie zu den Killing Fields des Choeung Ek Genozid-Zentrums – 9 Meilen südlich von Phnom Penh. Die berüchtigten Killing Fields haben eine blutige Geschichte. Einst ein Obstgarten und ein chinesischer Friedhof, verwandelten die Khmer-Schurken unter der Führung von Pol Pot den Ort in die sogenannten Killing Fields, wo sie rund 20.000 Opfer hinrichteten. Innerhalb von drei Jahren massakrierten und begruben sie 2,5 Millionen Menschen. Nachdem Sie der Toten gedacht haben, kehren Sie nach Phnom Penh zurück, um das Tuol Sleng Genozid-Museum (S21) zu besuchen. Pol Pot, was „Hügel der giftigen Bäume“ bedeutet, verwandelte eine einst beliebte Highschool in ein Hochsicherheitsgefängnis. 20.000 Menschen wurden dort eingesperrt, von denen viele gefoltert wurden, um Informationen zu erhalten. Heute dient es als Museum und Erinnerung an dunklere Tage. Ihr Reiseleiter bringt Sie zu Ihrem Hotel oder Gästehaus zurück.
Das berüchtigtste der 189 bekannten Verhörzentren in Kambodscha war S-21, das in einer ehemaligen Schule untergebracht war und jetzt wegen des Hügels, auf dem es steht, Tuol Sleng heißt. Zwischen 14.000 und 17.000 Häftlinge wurden dort festgehalten und gefoltert, oft in primitiven Backsteinzellen, die in ehemaligen Klassenzimmern errichtet wurden.

Great tour and history, showed every part of cambodias history and even met with last survivor that was in the camp

Our guide , Ran ,was extremely knowledgeable. He has a very personal and first hand connection to this terrible time in Cambodia's history , I won't spoil it by saying anything. Ran also spoke great English. While a harrowing experience , its one that is necessary to know. A great value half day tour. Recommended.

Highly recommend requesting Ran as your tour guide! He lived the Khmer Rouge as a little boy and could tell us what things were like firsthand in Cambodia during the dark time. He was so knowledgeable and we are glad we hired him for the tour vs doing the museums on our own so that we could learn more. The driver, Huot, also picked up/ dropped off right at the door of our hotel and offered cold waters during the drive.
