It was difficult to find the pick-up location based on the map. Our guide was very talkative and gave us a little too much information that wasn't relevant to the site. After the tour, which you will stand for hours with no breaks, the guide told us to meet at the pick-up bus location at 4:30 for a scheduled departure back to the train station at 4:35. We were advised we could stop in the shop, use the restrooms, etc. but to meet at 4:30. We went to the bus pick-up location at 4:25 and we found our entire group along with the guide was already on the bus as it pulled away. He was waving his water bottle at us! We got on the next bus, went to the train station and nobody was there to get us on the return train. So, we got on the next train back to Munich and finally reached our return point an hour later. I didn't receive any email from the guide or the company apologizing for leaving us behind. Terrible experience.
Wouldn’t recommend doing this solo. Got left behind by my tour guide, Steve, after going thru the barracks. We were told to go thru the barracks and take everything in, I heard him say 10 minutes or “about 1:01”. It’s entirely possible I misheard however I don’t think there’s any excuse to be left behind if i haven’t communicated wanting to stay back. I was reading the quotes on the walls, and when I walked out my entire group was gone. Spent about 20-30 minutes trying to find someone who could help me locate a map and had to do a portion of the tour alone. It felt like we spent SO long standing and talking, that I felt some portions of the tour were left untouched. Steve is very knowledgeable and has a lot of personal ties that he brought into the tour which was amazing. He would be a good guide if you had maybe toured Dachau before and wanted to go more in depth. I wouldn’t recommend as a solo traveler, as you are ultimately responsible for yourself at the end of the day and will be left behind without warning. There was no acknowledgment once I found the group again, there was no apology or any kind of checking in to make sure I was alright. I just don’t think there’s any excuse to leave someone behind, without even a second thought, on an experience they paid for. It would be best to go with another person so they can help advocate for you. Because some tour guides will not. Dachau is a sad history and it’s important to remember what happened there. I didn’t intend to let this experience taint that. It’s something everyone should see. Just maybe not by yourself-if you want to take everything in and be present.
This was a fabulous tour led by Patricia. Although you can rent the audio guides at Dachau, having a guide helped us really absorb the place. It was a long tour with few breaks and very intense. Very worthwhile.
We highly recommend the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site tour; it was both educational and very thought provoking. Our guide Connie not only shared the history behind Dachau and the other German concentration camps, she brought the brutal conditions there to life as she described how the prisoners were processed and treated. Connie also shared excerpts from prisoners’ accounts of Dachau, which were extremely moving. She also did a great job getting the group on the train and the bus, then getting us back to Munich again.
Teresa, Thanks for this great review and recommendation of the Dachau Memorial Site Tour from Munich. We are gald that Connie added to your day. Radius Tours
Connie was a knowledgable guide although most of the main topics were covered thought the free time at the end could have been a bit longer would recommend this trip
Franz was an exceptional guide! He was so knowledgeable about all things Germany and Dachau. He was very easy to understand and clearly relayed important interesting facts about Germany and World War 2 and the camp itself. I would definitely take any tour again with Franz. I have had tours all over the world and think he is the very best of all of them!
Ktemp, Thank you for wrinting this great review of the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site and we are glad you enjoyed having Franz as your guide. Radius Tours
This is a very emotional but necessary, rewarding, and important. I did two tours today with Jake, who was absolutely phenomenal. I am a teacher myself, and it is not hard to spot a good teacher when I see one in any capacity. Jake had phenomenal historical knowledge that he was able to blend seamlessly into the connections he made with the group as well as sharing some of his own family history. It was an enriching, educational experience. It is highly emotional and heavy in that sense, but something we all need to be cognizant of in such tense political climates. In total I did 3 tours with Radius Tours while I stayed in Munich and each one was fabulous. You won’t regret!

David, Thanks for the feedback and review of the Dachau Memorial Tour. Best, Radius Tours
We had a very somber but hugely insightful visit to Dachau with our family yesterday. Our guide, Michael, was an excellent communicator and explained very clearly and empathetically so many aspects of the memorial site and its history and background. I can safely say that our tour would not have been so good had it not been for the knowledge which Michael was able to share.
Thank you so much for this great review and great feedback of the tour. Best, Radius Tours
