Wir besuchen eine einzigartige klösterliche Organisation namens Ramakrishna Math, die dem Heiligen Sri Ramakrishna aus dem 19. Jahrhundert gewidmet ist. Die Gäste können den Universaltempel, den Schrein, ein schönes Mantapam, ein Multimedia-Museum und eine bezaubernde Bibliothek besichtigen.
Fort St George ist die erste englische Festung, die 1644 von der East India Company erbaut wurde. Wir besuchen die St. Mary's Church, die älteste anglikanische Kirche Indiens. Unser Kulturevangelist führt Sie in ein malerisches Museum, das reich an Relikten aus der Kolonialzeit ist, und erzählt die Geschichte, wie sich die ostindische Gesellschaft von einer Handelsfirma zu einem Herrscher Indiens entwickelt hat!
Wir fahren in Richtung Mylapore, einem alten Wohnviertel von Chennai, dessen Geschichte bis in die Römerzeit zurückreicht, als es Pfeffer und feine Stoffe mit Rom gegen Gold tauschte! Wir besuchen den prächtigen Kapaleeshwar-Tempel. Dieser im 7. Jahrhundert erbaute Tempel ist Lord Shiva gewidmet. Es wurde im dravidischen Stil erbaut und hat einen hoch aufragenden „Gopuram“. Die Gäste können ein faszinierendes Erlebnis von Ritualen und Gelassenheit im Inneren des Tempels erwarten. Unser Kulturevangelist wird die Geschehnisse im Tempel entmystifizieren!
Dies ist ein Tempel, der Sai Baba gewidmet ist, dem großen Mystiker, der Hindus und Muslime vereinte und über universelle Liebe und Brüderlichkeit predigte. Der Tempel ist aus weißem Marmor gebaut und hat eine Lampe, die seit mehr als 100 Jahren leuchtet
Wir werden das Denkmal für Swami Vivekananda erkunden, der ein großer Philosoph war. Seine Reden vor dem Weltparlament der Religionen im September 1893 machten ihn als Redner von göttlichem Recht und als Bote indischer Weisheit in der westlichen Welt berühmt. Montags ist es geschlossen und wir besuchen stattdessen das Egmore Museum.
Wir besuchen die berühmte Basilika San Thome, die Hauptkirche der römisch-katholischen Erzdiözese Madras und Mylapore. Wir können hier Reliquien von St. Thomas sehen. Sie ist eine von nur drei Kirchen weltweit, die auf dem Grab eines Apostels errichtet wurde. Die anderen beiden sind der Petersdom im Vatikan und die Kathedrale von Santiago de Compostela in Spanien.

Really good tour around the major sites, our guide was very friendly and helpful but English and explanations could have been a bit better and more expansive. Good driver, felt very safe.
