Very interesting walking tour of the old upper city with a focus on plants and herbs
Me and my parents were lucky to be the only ones, so it was actually a private tour. Hara, our guide was very friendly and considerate as well as knowledgeable. I really enjoy walking tours in general since they are a wonderful way to get to know a city, and this one didn't disappoint!
Hara was a lovely welcoming guide. We visited the back streets and hidden gardens of Old Town. Hara answered all of our questions thoughtfully. It was a wonderful way to discover the Old Town and learn more about Thessaloniki.
This operator messaged me several times, confusing the tour I had booked (Top Sights and Hidden Gems) with another (City of Gods and Heroes) which they also referred to as the 'myth' tour. At the meeting point the guide was sitting down with no ID or flag/umbrella showing until we approached her. She was so soft-spoken it was difficult to hear; another member of the group complained about this. We walked for a few minutes but my partner developed cramp in her legs so we informed the guide we were pulling out. I requested a refund from Tripadvisor/Viator which was refused because the operator said the tour had been 'delivered'. I recommend the Big Bus instead - cheaper and you'll have an interesting ride through the narrow winding streets of the old town at the top of the hill with great views over the sea.

A Tripadvisor review could be done by anyone, even a person that has not booked an experience. Having said that: - My experience is "Thessaloniki Old Town Walking Tour -Mythology & Botany" - You claim having booked "Top Sights and Hidden Gems", which has another code (sent to Viator Help Center) - I always wear a badge of the Association i am a active member of (identification mark). Never holding an umbrella, as this is a small-group tour!! - I never have been requested for a refund from Viator, and never responded ofcourse to it - There has been NO tour experience under the ones i hold, that a person has pulled off. In case such a thing ever happened for health reasons, I would be kindly including their needs. - This incident itself draws questions for your goals, and if indeed you were a participant. We had a wonderful tour with Hara as the host. Hara adjusted the tour to our needs and was a very knowledgeable host. It is a beautiful place and we were left with a better understanding of the city and its history.
We had a wonderful morning with Joy touring the old town of Thessaloniki. We started at the tower at the wall, and she described to us the history of the Thessaloniki and as we made our way around the upper city, she told us more of the history. We stopped at a few monasteries and historical sites, especially the monastery where Saint Paul preached. She was very informative, helpful and kind. We highly recommend this tour.
It was a very pleasant walk around the old town with lots of places you might not find on your own. Great views of the city and give us an insight to the history of Thessaloniki
We had a very nice couple of hours with our guide. She was knowledgeable and told entertaining stories. We walked down many streets and saw beautiful churches and sights.
Hara was so wonderful and helpful to your with, shared so much interesting information about everything from food to history to politics and of course a lot about nature and herbs, we can’t wait to do it again!!!
This was such a lovely tour away from the hustle and bustle of the lower town. Hara is a charming, friendly, informative guide. Very interesting to learn about the various health benefits from the flora and fauna in the upper part of the city, as well as the philosophy. I thoroughly recommend this tour as something different in a beautiful part of town. Thank you Hara and thank you for the delicious herbal tea!
