The Mountebank Comedy Whisky Tasting

This was an informative and entertaining afternoon. Daniel Downie (and his dog Brahan) was highly knowledgeable as well as clever with current affairs and key historical knowledge (of course). We learned so much about whisky and many laughs. Well worth the time and money.

The whole afternoon was relaxed, entertaining, and exceptionally well organised. Whether you're a whisky enthusiast, a comedy fan, or simply looking for a fun afternoon out, this is an absolute must. Bran the dog was a great addition to the afternoon. I’d happily go again in a heartbeat—highly recommended!

Having already done the history tour with Daniel, we decided to sign up for the whisky tasting as well. It ended up just being the two of us, so it was almost like a private comedy show :-) We were delighted by both the whisky selection and by the stories that came with it. We have done a lot of tours and tastings but this is a one of a kind cultural experience that is rare to find. Avoid if you are super conservative or easily offended, but if you like a laugh and a drink, you‘ll be entertained.

Daniel is entertaining, informative, and really knows his whisky and history. He is witty and charming and inclusive of his entire audience. The comedy made the whisky tasting enjoyable for our non drinker in the group. Daniel's dog makes the show extra special!

Excellent hour and a half with informative and entertaining host. Neither of us Whisky drinkers but a great experience to do during the afternoon.

This was absolutely awesome! Daniel is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Scotland and Whisky and absolutely hilarious. I am only in Edinburgh for a day and wanted a way to learn about the culture while having a drink and a laugh all at the same time and this is it! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting!

Entertaining as always with Daniel. A fun whisky tasting for any level with the addition of a Fringe standard comedy show. Whiskies from 4 of the Scottish whisky regions are sampled accompanied by a description of how to get the best out of the flavours along with some gentle ribbing. If you haven’t been to a whisky tasting before try this one, if you have been to a whisky tasting before go anyway, it won’t have been as entertaing as this!

If you like whisky, history and comedy, I’d recommend Daniel’s 90 minute Comedy Whisky Tasting. Relaxed, informative, edgy (at times) and good fun. Nice range of whiskies to taste (four in total) and Daniel’s knowledge, humour and passion makes it an enjoyable experience regardless of the level of your whisky interest. I’ll be booking his Tour.
