Der Ramappa-Tempel, auch bekannt als der Rudreshwara-Tempel, ist ein Hindu-Tempel im Kakatiya-Stil, der dem Hindu-Gott Shiva gewidmet ist. Eine Inschrift im Tempel besagt, dass er im Jahr 1213 n. Chr. von Recharla Rudra Reddy – einem General des Kakatiya-Herrschers Ganapati Deva (r. 1199–1262). In der Nähe des Ramappa-Sees gelegen, wurde die Ramappa-Tempelanlage, die aus drei Tempeln besteht, zwischen 1212 und 1234 erbaut, entworfen und von Ramappa – nach dem die Tempelanlage benannt ist – entworfen. Marco Polo nannte den Tempel während seines Besuchs im Kakatiya-Imperium angeblich "den hellsten Stern in der Galaxie der Tempel". Ramappa Tempel steht auf einer 1,8 m hohen sternförmigen Plattform. Die Halle vor dem Heiligtum verfügt über zahlreiche geschnitzte Säulen, die positioniert wurden, um einen Effekt zu schaffen, der Licht und Raum wunderbar verbindet. Der Tempel ist nach dem Bildhauer Ramappa benannt, der ihn erbaute, was ihn zum einzigen Tempel Indiens macht, der nach seinem Handwerker benannt wurde.
Tausend-Säulen-Tempel Der beliebteste Ort in Warangal ist der Tausend-Säulen-Tempel am Fuße des Hanamkonda-Hügels. Es wurde im 12. Jahrhundert vom Kakatiya-König Rudra Deva erbaut. Dieser Tempel ist in erster Linie Lord Shiva gewidmet und auch unter dem Namen Sri Rudreshwara Swamy Temple bekannt. In diesem Tempel werden drei Gottheiten verehrt: Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu und Lord Surya. Sie sind als Trikutalayam bekannt. Es gibt drei Schreine, einen für jede Gottheit. Derzeit unter der Pflege der Archäologischen Vermessung von Indien sie wunderschön restauriert einen Teil der Mandapam-Gebiet , Tausend-Säulen-Tempel ist bekannt für kompliziert geschnitzte Säulen. Eine massive Skulptur Nandis, die aus einem einzigen Felsen geschnitzt ist, ist eine weitere Attraktion dieses Tempels. Bemerkenswert sind auch Felselefanten und exquisite Gravuren am Tempel. .
Warangal Fort, das aus dem 13. Jahrhundert stammt, leitet die Stadt ihren Namen von dem Telugu Wort Orugallu – „Oru“ bedeutet eins und das Wort „gallu“ bedeutet Stein. Daher ist die Stadt auch als Ekasila Nagaram bekannt. Es diente als Hauptstadt für große Kakatiya Herrscher, zwischen dem 12. und 14. Jahrhundert. Die Kakatiyas, die diesen Ort mehr als 200 Jahre lang beherrschten, haben großartige Denkmäler und architektonische Wunder wie das berühmte Warangal Fort gebaut. Warangal Fort, eine Hauptattraktion der Stadt, erstreckt sich über einen Radius von fast fünf Kilometern zwischen Warangal und Hanamkonda. Die Festung Warangal wurde im 13. Jahrhundert, während der Herrschaft des Kakatiya-Königs Ganapati Deva, erbaut und ist bekannt für ihre anmutig geschnitzten Bögen und Säulen mit vier großen Steintoren. Die Archäologische Landesaufnahme Indiens hat dieses Fort als Denkmal von nationaler Bedeutung gelistet. Das Warangal Fort ist in drei konzentrischen kreisförmigen Mauern mit Verteidigungsanlagen angelegt.

Wonderful experience learning about the Kakatiyas. Visited the Ramappa temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple carries a lot of history and I learnt so much thanks to my guide. It was an experience like no other. Takes one way back to the 12th century when the temple was built. This UNESCO monument is a must visit. You’ll go home more knowledgeable than you left 🤭 I also had the opportunity to visit The Thousand Pillar Temple which is dedicated to three deities namely Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Surya. Being a person who is open to learning and understanding other religions, this excursion meant a lot to me. Our last stop was the Warangal Fort which served as capital of the great Kakatiya rulers. Come with an open mind to learn a lot of history. I can’t miss to appreciate my guide Mr. Sainath the historian 🤭 This man understands his craft and is so passionate about it. He loves what he does and he is so calm, accommodating, deep and his customer service is tops. He makes understanding the history of the Kakatiyas so easy. We had an amazing trip to see these 3 temples of different eras. Incredibly interesting and even more special as we got blessings at each temple. Srinu was a brilliant guide and knowledgeable host and there was no question too stupid from us!! We also had a wonderful veg Thalia in Warangal. It is a long drive but worth it and you escape the craziness oh Hyderabad. Tip - wear flip flops as easy for temples and especially if it rains. If it is during Rainey season wear shorts and raincoat as you can get saturated and long trousers wet aren’t comfortable for a long day. Great day trip!

Fantastic day, early start at 6.30am but well worth getting up early for. Beautiful scenery along the way, and the Temples of Kakatiya were breathtaking.Such a peaceful place, my guide Srinu was full of knowledge about everything, very interesting to learn from.
