William is a great guide. The snorkeling wasn't that clear but was still good. William showed us cool things both in the water and on the island. We had a fun time!
A very lovely time! We got good instructions and information about our trip! We stayed safe and it was glorious!
Excellent adventure to Captain Island. The unique experience on this tour is all the incredible seashells on the island and the tiny crabs . To start you will kayak through the surf and paddle about 15-20 minutes until you reach Captain Island. Once ashore your guide will set you up with your snorkel gear and off you go to see marine life. We stayed close to the rocks and along the island and saw some great fish our guide was excellent finding a spectacular blue starfish for my wife and family to behold. . Be careful when you first reach the island there are a lot of rocks just beneath the surface. Watch your steps easy to fall over. Great adventure relatively easy paddle to the island. Highlights are the seashells and crabs on the island.
William was absolutely wonderful. We would definitely do this to her again. The snorkeling was incredible and the national park.
The waves were 2-3 feet and it was an adventure paddling over the break to get off the beach. We got to the tiny island and realized we wouldn't be able to see anything snorkeling because the waves were kicking up too much sand. The waves were breaking pretty hard over the reef by the island so we waited around for a while to see if the waves would die down. They didn't, and getting back was an adventure and felt a little dangerous. We did capsize once getting back because of the waves, but it was near land and not a big deal. If we had known we wouldn't be able to snorkel I would have found something different to do with the 2.5 hours. I did this with my 11 year old son and it was definitely an adventure for us and a decent bit of exercise for me, but not at all what we were expecting. My son was super bored on the island, except for looking at the hermit crabs. I was worried about the waves when we took off, but I figured the island might be more sheltered and we could see some stuff, which turned out not to be the case. I wish the tour company had been more upfront that the waves meant it was unlikely we would be able to really snorkel, if they had we would have found something else to do, maybe just play on the beach in the waves. If our experience is any indication, if the waves are 2-3 feet or more, this is a wavy and vigorous kayak journey without snorkeling.
This was really fun! Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun. Island is very tiny but cool things to explore
The kayaking was fun but the snorkeling was not. Not sure if it was because of the weather but you couldn’t even see a foot in front of you. If you decide to go I would definitely recommend water shoes not that they really helpful on the very slippery rocks, when getting out on the island. But if you're a little squeamish about slimy feeling rocks it helps. Our guide slipped and fell hard, hopefully he was really ok ( as he said) and two people cut their hands on the rocks. It takes quite a while to get each person one at a time into the water ( we had 6 in our group). So by the time everyone was in we were more than ready to get out because you couldn’t see anything. The pineapple at the end was delicious and we did have some laughs!
Kayaking was ok but the "snorkeling" was highly over sold. We basically spent $100 each to paddle to an island and look for sea shells
It was an amazing experience, we learned, we enjoyed, we loved it! Our guide guy was super kind! Explain so many things! Even teach us how to use the kayak, and was super patient and we had so much fun
Nice guide and good kayaks, but not much to see around the island. Maybe bad luck that day? I don't think so given the amount of grass at the bottom of the water there. Anyway our masks were foggy all the time. So kayaking was OK but snorkeling wasn't.
