Very nice tour and Gaby was a great guide. She told me a lot about the country, which I greatly appreciate as a solo traveler. The hike to the waterfall is quite challenging; one should be fit. I would definitely recommend wearing hiking shoes, as it can be quite steep, slippery, and muddy in some places. Additionally, I would take a change of shirt, as you will be completely soaked in sweat afterward. However, it is definitely worth it. The beach was also nice, and there were some restaurants there.
I had an amazing experience visiting the Tamanique Waterfalls in El Salvador, and a big part of that was thanks to my tour guide, Gaby. Gaby was outstanding from start to finish. She was punctual, professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. As a solo traveler, I especially appreciated how much she shared about El Salvador's culture, history, and daily life. Her passion for her country made the experience much more meaningful, and I am very grateful for everything she taught me throughout the day. The waterfalls themselves were absolutely beautiful. We spent about 30–40 minutes there swimming, taking photos, and even jumping from a small cliff into the water. After hiking in the humid conditions, the cool water felt amazing. It had rained the night before, so the trail was muddy and slippery, and I was very thankful I brought hiking boots. The only aspect that slightly tainted my experience was that, although I booked as a solo traveler and it was initially just Gaby and me, we ended up joining another group of about six or seven people. Most of them appeared to be hungover and were speaking very loudly, often using foul language. Since I was hoping to enjoy the nature and tranquility of the area, I found that part of the hike less enjoyable and somewhat uncomfortable. One thing I would suggest is providing more detailed information before the tour. It would have been very helpful to know in advance to bring water shoes and a change of clothes, especially since swimming at the waterfalls is such a major part of the experience. Thankfully, on the hike back up, Gaby and I stopped at another waterfall where I had the entire place to myself for about 10–15 minutes. It was peaceful, beautiful, and one of my favorite moments of the day. I also appreciated that I did not have to continue the return hike with the larger group. Afterward, we visited El Tunco, the famous surf town on El Salvador's Pacific coast. It is definitely a tourist-friendly destination with plenty of small shops, cafés, and places to browse. The beach is more geared toward surfing than relaxing on the sand, but it was still a wonderful place to visit. I only wish I had a little more time there to explore. Overall, I highly recommend this experience. The waterfalls are stunning, the scenery is beautiful, and Gaby's exceptional customer service made the day memorable. Despite the minor issues with the larger group and the lack of preparation information, I had a fantastic time. El Salvador exceeded my expectations—it felt safe, clean, welcoming, and full of natural beauty. I would gladly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the country.
This is a must do when you come to El Salvador! The nature is incredible and at times it feels unreal like a movie. Besides the nature, we had a great group of tour guides and travelers. My tour guide was Gaby, and she went above and beyond with everything from advice on what to do in El Salvador, to the culture, the driving, and the actual day’s excursion. This tour does not disappoint, and is a MUST DO! You won’t regret it:)
I had the pleasure of taking the Tamanique Waterfalls Complex Trek + El Tunco Beach Tour with Francis Espinoza as my guide, and I cannot recommend him enough. From the moment the tour started, Francis brought incredible energy, professionalism, and passion to the experience. His enthusiasm was contagious and made the entire day even more enjoyable. He did an outstanding job explaining everything along the way—from the history and culture of the area to the local wildlife, plants, and natural features of the landscape. What really stood out was his ability to make the tour both educational and engaging. Whether we were hiking through the canyon, exploring the waterfalls, or visiting El Tunco Beach, Francis always had interesting insights and stories to share. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, friendly, and energetic guide who truly cares about providing an amazing experience, I highly recommend booking with Francis Espinoza. He helped make this trip one of the highlights of my visit to El Salvador. Thank you, Francis, for an unforgettable adventure! 🇸🇻🌿💦🏞️
Gabby was an amazing guide. She’s so knowledgeable about El Salvador and is always open to hearing and answering our questions. The hike is DIFFICULT especially when it’s a super hot day. I recommend taking a bamboo stick if there’s any available. Before stating the hike, you will have the opportunity buy snacks / water at the mini store and use the bathroom for 0.25 cents. If you decided to not get anything and regret it after, don’t you worry! After 10-15 min there will be a man who owns a property who sells snacks/ drinks and allows you to use the bathroom for 0.25 cents. The hike is very tiring, and it is steep as you head down. Please follow what the guide tells you to do for your own safety. Take it slow if you need to. Once you are at the waterfall, it is so beautiful and refreshing. The hike back is a different path which is less difficult but it’s not easy. I repeat, take your time and take your breaks. But was it worth it? YES! El tunco was a beautiful time. Please try the pupusas from Pupuseria del sol. They are amazing ! They are many food spots, souvenir stores and activities you can go through and it’s a great time. The ocean waves are great for surfing not swimming. They are very harsh. Be careful. Def recommend doing this tour if you want a bit of both waterfall and beach in one day.
The views and the waterfall was amazing. Diego is my absolutely favorite, please request him and Freddy to be your guides. Please beware of that hike, if you are a beginner you may have difficulty climbing back up. Diego was patience, kind, and very helpful and because of his patience I was able to complete the hike with confidence. Be sure to pack water, a handheld fan, good balancing sneakers and sun screen.
Highly recommend taking this tour, especially with tour guide Diego if you're able to! Diego was great at providing information specific to the tour and about El Salvador in general
Tour guide Diego was great and patient the whole time The water fall was really fun and swimming in it made everything worth it, the hike to the waterfall wasn’t even that long
Honest review here. Please read carefully: the hike to and from the waterfall is no joke. It’s an advanced level trek, and I wouldn’t recommend it for beginners. The trail is steep and physically demanding. At the start, you’ll descend toward the waterfall, which takes about 45 minutes. The real challenge comes on the way back up it took my group an hour and a half to climb out. Depending on the route your guide chooses, there may be very little shade and only a slight breeze. Be prepared: wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water, a snack for energy, a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. A big thank you to our tour guide, Diego, and local guide, Freddy. They were incredibly patient, supportive, and understanding of how tough this hike was for our group. If you’re an experienced or moderately fit hiker, I’d recommend it. If not, proceed with caution. We saw people from other groups who needed to be rescued, so take that seriously.
The hike was awesome the views were breathtaking and our tour guide was very attentive and informative.
