Ritsurin Koen (栗林 公園) ist ein Landschaftsgarten in der Stadt Takamatsu, der in der frühen Edo-Zeit von den örtlichen Feudalherren angelegt wurde. Als einer der besten Gärten Japans wird oft vorgeschlagen, dass Ritsurin Koen neben Kanazawas Kenrokuen, Mitos Kairakuen und Okayamas Korakuen einen Platz auf der Liste der "drei schönsten Gärten Japans" verdient. Der weitläufige Park verfügt über viele Teiche, Hügel, historische Bäume und wunderschöne Pavillons, die im Süden in einen Garten im japanischen Stil und im Norden in einen Garten im westlichen Stil unterteilt sind. Die Gärten liegen vor dem bewaldeten Berg. Shiun, der als wunderbarer Hintergrund und großartiges Beispiel für geliehene Landschaften dient.
Das Takamatsu-Schloss (高 松 城, Takamatsujō), auch bekannt als Tamamo-Schloss, wurde 1590 neben dem Seto-Binnenmeer erbaut. Es ist eines der wenigen japanischen Schlösser entlang einer Uferpromenade und verfügt über Salzwassergräben, die direkt aus dem Meer stammen. Der Ikoma-Clan regierte 54 Jahre lang von der Burg aus, bevor ihr Lehen dem Matsudaira-Clan übergeben wurde, Verwandten des Tokugawa-Shogun, der die Region für den Rest der Edo-Zeit behielt. Der Bergfried der Takamatsu-Burg wurde während der Meiji-Zeit zerstört, aber es gibt Pläne, ihn in Zukunft wieder aufzubauen. Ein erster Schritt in Richtung dieses Ziels wurde 2013 erreicht, als die Restaurierung des Fundaments des Burgturms nach langjähriger Arbeit abgeschlossen war.
Im Stadtzentrum von Takamatsu befindet sich eine lange, überdachte Einkaufspassage, die sich von der Burg Takamatsu bis nach Ritsurin Koen erstreckt. Es besteht aus verschiedenen Geschäften, Restaurants und zwei Kaufhäusern und gilt mit einer Gesamtlänge von fast 2,7 Kilometern als die längste überdachte Einkaufspassage Japans. Das nördliche Ende der Einkaufspassage in der Nähe des Takamatsu-Schlosses und des Kaufhauses Mitsukoshi wurde kürzlich zu einem großen Platz und Einkaufszentrum mit gehobenen Geschäften wie Louis Vuitton und Coach umgebaut. In Lion Dori, einer Nebenstraße, die parallel zur Haupteinkaufsstraße verläuft, gibt es hauptsächlich Restaurants, darunter auch Restaurants, die Sanuki Udon servieren.
Dieses Museum in Ritsurin-kōen zeigt in seinen vier Sälen lokales Kunsthandwerk, Haushaltswaren, Möbel und Dachziegel aus der Tokugawa-Dynastie.

It was wonderful to have such a personalized tour & we were able to walk through the beautiful Takamatsu Castle with indepth explanation of history and culture. We even stopped to have lunch at a famous noodle shop that makes/teaches how to make the famous Sanuki noodles.
The guests were very kind and listened to my explanation attentively, therefore I have been very happy to guide them. For lunch first I took them to a famous and old Udon noodle shop, but it was closed on that day, Tuesday. It was my mistake, then I came up with another Udon shop I used to go and we went there. I was happy that the guest said I had never had such a good Udon noodle. Kaji

My husband, son and his girlfriend and cousin toured Takamatsu with Mika and we had an excellent time with her.
