Nur eine kurze Autofahrt vom Herzen von Nairobi entfernt führt Sie diese 6-stündige private Tour zur Kiambethu Farm in Limuru, die einen ruhigen Einblick in das Leben auf einer Siedlerfarm bietet. Kiambethu wurde 1910 von AB McDonell gekauft und bewirtschaftet. Er war der erste, der in Kenia Tee anbaute, herstellte und kommerziell verkaufte - jetzt einer der größten Exportgüter Kenias, den Sie jetzt probieren können. Fünf Generationen haben auf der Farm gelebt und sie wird derzeit von seiner Enkelin Fiona Vernon geführt.

Reiseverlauf
Abholung von Ihrem Hotel oder Ihrer Unterkunft im zentralen Geschäftsviertel von Nairobi um 9:45 Uhr. Die Fahrt nach Limuru beginnt um 11:00 Uhr. Bei einer Tasse Tee oder Kaffee wird die Geschichte der Farm und der Herstellungsprozess von Tee informell erläutert Tee auf dem Feld. Machen Sie dann mit unserem einheimischen kenianischen Führer einen Spaziergang durch den Urwald, der die Pflanzen identifiziert und erklärt, wie sie traditionell verwendet werden. Halten Sie Ausschau nach den Colobus-Affen und streifen Sie durch die Gärten, in denen eine Vielzahl von Vögeln und Blumen beheimatet ist. Kehren Sie zum Haus zurück und genießen Sie vor dem Mittagessen ein Getränk auf der Veranda mit herrlichem Blick über die Teefelder bis zu den Ngong Hills. Genießen Sie Ihr 3-Gänge-Mittagsbuffet von unserem Menü, das mit Gemüse aus dem Garten zubereitet wird. Die Desserts werden mit Sahne aus unserer Herde von Channel Island-Kühen gekrönt.

The Kiambethu visit itself was great and very interesting - I learned a lot! Being invited into Fiona's home was special and the lunch was delicious. (One suggestion in that respect would be to seat solo travellers / couples together with others. As it was we had to re-arrange ourselves so as to meet and chat with other guests). The one less fun aspect was the journey there; the roads are not good and the situation was exacerbated by travelling in a rickety car with poor syspension.

I had booked the visit to the tea farm with lunch, which they "were really happy to conduct". The day before they canceled my trip to the tea farm, saying "they tried to make the booking but could not get a space". I made the booking 3 weeks in advance however, so this seems strange. Guess something went wrong on their side. They proposed to go to the coffe farm (without lunch) which I accepted. The guide on the coffee farm was good and enjoyable. I won the competition in guessing the different types of coffee. The driver Stephen was also good, although he arrived at 10am instead of 9.30am, but I guess there was a miscommunication on their side due to change in tour. The coffee tour was good due to the guide there and the driver. But it is of course not the tour I payed for.
