Creative & Unique Experience of Kuang-Si

This trek was awesome! It was a great way to meet some locals and support farmers and other community members on our way to Kunag-Si. Our guide was awesome and taught us lots on the way. Bring a hat and sunscreen - it is a hot trek. Snacks were included throughout the day and lots of water was provided. Even though Kuang-Si falls is crowded, it was a highlight to see the stunning falls and the sun bears. We saw them at a good time, during their dinner when they were awake. Around 3pm

The highlight of our trip

Such a great way to see the countryside! Our guide Vone was friendly and very knowledgeable about the local communities, plants, and wildlife. We had great weather and the hike was not too strenuous. The trip was well organized with timely transportation, water, and snacks provided throughout the day. Of course the waterfall is spectacular and I highly recommend swimming, even if the water is a bit chilly. A beer on the boat back to Luang Prabang is the perfect way to end the day. This trek was the highlight of our visit to Laos and I definitely recommend it.

Besr Sanctuary after the falls was delightful

After the Falls the bear sanctuary was delightful. There were about 8 bears several asleep in hammocks and several playing whcih looked quite aggressive but Im sure was playing.

Great Trek

We had a great trek from a local village to the waterfalls. Our guide, Khau (not sure of spelling), was amazing. He taught us a lot about local culture and the countryside. He also got us the best views of the waterfalls. Highly recommend this trek.

Caring for endangered bears in a spectacular environment

We did a Bear Care Tour at the Bear Sanctuary run by Free the Bears. It was a fascinating afternoon and our guide, Neth, was friendly and informative. We saw the bears behind the scenes and provided enrichment for them. We heard about the plight of sun and moon bears, which are all too frequently abused for bear bile and as exotic pets. Free the Bears does wonderful work to rehabilitate these endangered animals and I would encourage anyone who cares about these vulnerable species to book a Bear Care Tour.

Beautiful Waterfalls ...

To start your walk you can observe some brown bears. Then you will follow a stream with turquoise water and several waterfalls before admiring the biggest waterfall at the top ... not to be missed during your trip to Laos ...

Cool spot

Incredible experience with my family. We visited the waterfall and then also swam in the water which was so refreshing! Also it was my first time seeing bears and it was an amazing experience!

Worth the Walk

This excursion was probably the best one I did while on a trip to Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam with my father. Ken our guide was knowledgeable about not only the region and people but also the local plants and wildlife. A few things to mention: The total trek distance is 6.61 miles as tracked on my Garmin. You start in a local village, Ban Long, after getting dropped off. I am an avid hiker and did not have issues at any point. This "trek" allows you to see areas of the country side and the head springs of the waterfall. While it was not an overly difficult hike there are some slippery portions especially close to the water fall. My father is 69 and did ok but was a little tired at the end. Wear good hiking shoes and would advise longer light pants for areas that are a little overgrown. The guide brings water for you, so no issue there but when they say sunscreen and some bug repellent take their advise. We went on a day that it had not rained much but could see many of the parts of the trail being washed out if it had. Beautiful views and an amazing time!

Review of BEAR park ONLY

This is a well thought out corner of the Kuang Si falls park. There are a number of rescued bears that would have wound up in Chinese cages getting milked for their bile. This is a torture industry for fallacious Chinese ‘medicine’ that needs to be stopped point blank. I fully commend the owners for displaying a cage that a bear would spend its life in, encouraging you to crawl inside and see what it would feel like yourself. They pull no punches about what the bears go through so it is wonderful to see them, out in their sanctuary, relaxing and playing happily and most importantly SAFELY. There are good displays teaching you about the animals but again I would recommend more information be put up for Chinese tourists. Good gift shop and I am proudly wearing my FREE THE BEARS t shirt now. Excellent, and keep up the great work.
