Our guide for this excursion, Eddine, was very knowledgeable about everything in Uppsala! Not only were we able to view the usual sites such as the Castle, Cathedral and University Library, we were able to access the Botanical Gardens and the Home Museum of Carl Linnaeus and his personal gardens. It was a very busy day with a lot of walking but well worth every minute!!!
I was disappointed with the lack of history provided on the tour. There were too many quiet times for a private tour. I wanted to hear more about Sweden & Uppsala, but the guide didn’t speak enough in my opinion.
Pick up location and time were changed multiple times. Clearly, the pick-up time had nothing to do with the departure time of the train; The guide and we missed the train. The tour guide was stressed and in a hurry for the entire trip. The preset schedule was not kept and we missed seeing multiple sights. I recommend going to Uppsala on your own and definitely not with Viator/Trip Advisor. Besides having extremely vile and sickening bad breath, the guide was nice and purchased dessert and hot chocolate for us but we had to buy our own lunch. Buyer beware
He was kind and thoughtful and we saw some amazing places. Took the train and also he hired a taxi once we arrived at Uppsala to transport us to the Botanical Gardens.
Tour was nice, but nothing fabulous. Cathedral was nice. Castle was not open to tour. Snack was minimal for lunch. Not really much for the price.
Goddine was an amazing tour guide. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. He knew all the history of Uppsala. I will recommend him to all my friends and family. Uppsala is so worth doing if you travel to Stockholm.
Beautiful city of Stockholm. A 3 days trip to visit the Grand Palace, Old Town, Viking VASA museum, ABBA muzeum - all within a day trip walking distance. Must savour the variety of Swedish meatballs. A Must. Also the traditional local food & the lingon berry drink. For nice quality michelin guide, a visit to Lisa Elmqvist establishment in Ostermalms Food Hall for lunch. Always a long wait during peak lunch time so go early.
Great tour. Eddine was an excellent guide. Very informative and our guide was most knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time.
I knew right away that the guide didn't know what he was talking about when he said Carl Linnaeus was in competition with Charles Darwin to come up with the Theory of Evolution. I happen to know something about the subject and pointed out that Linnaeus died 30 years before Darwin was even born. And there were other examples. In the Uppsala Cathedral, I asked about the tomb sculpture of King Gustav Vasa. The king's body is flanked by two women. The guide says one was the wife and the other was his mistress. I did some research later and found out that he actually had two wives. His first wife died early after a fall and then he remarried. Even one of the other people in our group said to me that they should have come on their own. The only good thing about this tour was that he arranged the transportation and bought us a small lunch.
This was a wonderful tour. Although I did not purchase a personal tour - there was nobody with us except for my family, which was very nice. The tour includes many sites in Uppsala which is a beautiful post card picturesque town. Most of the focus was on gardens which my wife and daughter enjoyed. We also toured parts of a university and the enormous main cathedral. Eddine, our tour guide, was absolutely fantastic. He made us feel special and gave us a very happy experience. He knew the sites and history of the town and gave us many funny moments. Eddine answered our questions with informative responses. He took us to a small cafe for a tasty lunch and then to top off our experience we went to a small chapel to witness a local wedding. Wow!!!
