Surabaya Private Tour

We lucked out with Nita, our guide. She was great! Her English is excellent, all 8 of us could hear her clearly, both in the (spacious) van and in busy markets. She is a perfect combination of informative, sharing a brief history, personal, funny and very knowledgeable. We went with East Journey Travel's suggestions for a day tour and their itinerary was well thought out. [Tip: Although we didn't go to Mt Bromo, she'd be a great guide since she studied volcanology at university. ] Nita contacted me prior to the tour, which was reassuring. The pick up at our hotel was on time. Nita was waiting for us in the lobby. The clean Toyota van was spacious for all 8 of us, plus the guide and driver. Lunch was included and it was excellent, with a variety of dishes: 3 kinds of fish, 3 kinds of vegetables, chicken soup, fried veg rice, ice tea. We were all stuffed, unable to eat any more with food left on the table. The restaurant (including the WCs) was clean and attractive. I can't say enough positives about Nita - she made the day!

Very nice introduction to Surabaya. Nita is very knowledgeable about the city and its history. She included some “local color” stops along with the highlights. She was also flexible in rearranging the schedule as needed to get in all of the stops. If you want to explore Surabaya (recommended), this tour is a great way to do it (highly recommended)

An excellent 1 day city tour with Nita, our personable Volcanologist guide who was informative, fun and knowledgeable. Had unique photo ideas at every location. Gavye plenty of fun facts, history and legends surrounding Surabaya that made the tour all the more interesting. All in all an enjoyable experience that covered good ground but that we could do at our own pace.

Our guide ANUR was very pleasant. She knew how to guide us through the city and introduce us to its culture. She was attentive to our tastes and pace.

We had a great time with Budi, our tour guide, and Anom, our driver. Budi was knowledgable about Surabaya’s history. He was good in keeping time to ensure we won’t miss our ship.

This was an interesting tour. Our guide, Salsa was outstanding and the driver made us feel safe. Salsa is knowledgable and made the day fun with lots of small surprises along the way like taking a motorized rickshaw through China town and treating us to a delish fresh fish lunch at a local restaurant.

We had an amazing day exploring Surabaya with Andre! Highly recommend Andre! We visited all the cultural areas from local markets, temples, and historical sites!

This is a great tour for cruisers. The times are flexible to meet the ship's schedule, you see more than the ship's tours do, and you get a great personal guide and a driver who keeps the van blessedly cool while you step out at the various sites. Our guide, Yuni, spoke perfect English and was very engaging. She went the extra mile at every stop, such as getting my wife to go behind the scenes at the Chinese temple puppet show, buying us some snake fruit to try at the market, and helping us interact with locals who were very interested to meet us at many of the stops. It was great fun! The becha ride (tuk tuk) was an unexpected surprise and lots of fun. The restaurant meal was excellent. Yuni explained all of the food and how to eat it (you can add your own chili salsa to have as much Javanese spice as you like). If you come to Surabaya, I encourage you to take this tour. It's very well run, it's a great value for the money, and you'll come away with a lot more than you ever expected!

Great communication with the provider. Comfortable air conditioned vehicle. Nabilila was wonderful and very flexible, which made the tour enjoyable for us. Her knowledge of the history of Surabaya and Indonesia was very helpful.

Wonderful tour with Agus to the Dutch European section of city, Chinatown by Tuk tuk including the Chinese Temple of three religions, the Arabic section of the city including the market and the mosque and ending with a terrific lunch. Our driver (Andre?) was very skilled and the vehicle was new with AC. We probably skipped a few aspects of the tour as we were limited by ship time in port. Agus spoke excellent English. Just do it!!
