Was a really nice trip and we loved Symi Island. Only thing is the return journey for us got quite cold so would worth bringing layers.
Good trip and a good opportunity to visit Symi. Booking directly with operator is the cheapest option we found so is recommended. The experience when on the boat is good. There is an inside section so if you sit there then you will miss many of the sights. Arrive at the ticket office at 14:15 and when you have your boarding pass stay on the benches as close to the ticket office as possible as the queue soon builds up and you may end up with not ideal seats. The downside: They allow smoking on board when stood at the back so if in the enclosed bit then it gets a bit stinky, I’m sure this is treading a thin line with EU law but smoking is much more relaxed still on the continent.
We had booked the sunset cruise at a cost of €118. The day before, we received a message informing us of the cancellation due to the wind, offering us as an alternative the 11:00 departure or a refund. I asked if there was a price difference between the two excursions, and I was told no. On the morning of departure, however, at the time of ticket issuance, we saw a receipt for €78: this means that the daytime excursion actually cost much less. I would have appreciated greater transparency. The staff, both on board and during the excursion, was truly very kind and helpful. Unfortunately, the organization of the itinerary did not convince us. In Symi, we had only three hours available, with scorching heat at 12:00: the time is barely enough to have lunch and take a short walk, without really being able to visit the town. The final stop, St. George's Bay, is undoubtedly spectacular. It's a shame that the experience was completely ruined by the excessive number of participants. There were about 120 people, and at the time of swimming, everyone jumped off the boat at the same time. It felt like a scene from Titanic: total chaos. It was practically impossible to swim without bumping into someone, and even getting back on board was complicated. Overall, the value for money is definitely disappointing. I do not feel comfortable recommending it. An excursion not to be missed.
I booked this excursion on line and added a transfer, which arrived on time and was waiting on return of the trip. Very well organised at the harbour, they even gave out umbrellas for people that found the sun too strong. Comfortable seats on board and as it was a little windy, they offered us all a fleece to use, until we arrived at the swim stop. Simply stunning shade of blue sea and a delight to swim in. You can jump off from front or back of the boat and if you are as unsure, as it is deep, they have safety floats. Symi is beautiful just like the picture postcard. We enjoyed a great meal and wine in a restaurant close to the sea, absolutely a 10 out of 10 experience. On our return journey, the captain stops the boat for everyone, to catch sunset photos and the crew are very cheerful and happy to take a photo for you. Very professional and I would absolutely advise anybody to book this trip, you will not be disappointed.
The itinerary needs to be updated. The trip included a 30 min swim at St Georges bay which was not listed and we had brought our swimming suits. Also make sure you know where is the pick up point as they list two but only map one (which was the correct one). Very nice crew who were very responsive to our feedback and promised to get it fixed
It was a spontaneous decision as none of us could do anything with the island and the really impressive port town. The boat ride there was exciting and fun, warmer clothes are definitely appropriate due to waves and occasional surf. The entrance to the port was wonderful, the town showed its best side in the sun. Lots to see, mega nice offers for shopping and the place offers so infinite wonderful places, romantic alleys as hotspots for photographing...highly recommended...we haven't been to Santorini yet, but we think Symi is definitely worth it. Well and the bathing stop in the bay was awesome, gladly with even more time to linger.
We took the speed boat to Rhodes from Lardos beach. This is a really lovely scenic way around, rather than being stuck on a hot bus. On the way back after spending a lovely 5 hours shopping, the sunset is spectacular for taking photos. The plus side is they gave us fleeces on the boat, as it was slightly colder than the day time.
Good organization, wonderful island and pleasant bathing stop. The only drawback for us were the separate seats on the outward journey, as there are 3 seats per row.
Incredible day out on the boats with a 3 stay in Symi and a quiet dip in St George’s bay. The crew were all lovely and kind and of course helpful. My family really enjoyed this little day trip and we would certainly book again!
Beautiful Island to visit, colourful painted houses give charm to this small island, you can eat fresh seafood in restaurants
