A couple of issues before boarding - we were sold tickets by Stromma representatives at a boat stop before being informed that the boat didn’t actually leave from there, so we then had a fairly long walk to the departure point. Then there was confusion about where we were meant to wait (there was a notice with the wrong tour time shown at the meeting point). But once on board we had a fun and comfortable trip. The boat was very smooth, though the route was the same going out and back (some kind of circular route would give more variation). But it was Will, our guide that made it. Tour was in English and he was clear, friendly, knowledgeable and funny! Thank you!

Strömma archipelago tours are always a nice way to experience Stockholm from the water. The boat leaves the pulse of the city behind and glides out among the cobs and islands, where red summer cottages, white villas and small jetties line the shoreline. Seagulls follow the boat and the fresh sea air slows down the pace. I spent much of the trip up on the sundeck, where the view of the archipelago was amazing. It’s hard not to be fascinated by how close nature feels, even though the big city is just a short boat ride away. A while later I went down to the café on board and enjoyed a bag of chips together with a Strömma beer while the landscape slowly passed outside the windows. The staff were friendly and contributed to the atmosphere throughout the tour. The only small disappointment was that coffee was not served on this particular departure. For those who have a little more time, I recommend Strömma’s three-hour archipelago cruise with restaurant on board. It gives even more time to enjoy the archipelago, and the food is also of very high quality. That tour is my personal favorite. This boat trip is also well worth joining. If you want to experience the Stockholm archipelago in an easy and relaxing way, Strömma is an excellent choice.

Timings are not respected, worse then NMBS…

We arrived in early opposite the Royal Palace but the Stromma sales staff were unhelpful and only interested in selling tickets for the hop on hop off cruise. We watched a boat moor up away from the dock and then move to main one where there was a long queue which we joined and then realised the time was close to departure. Once again the Stromma staff were unhelpful so I had to push my way in and spoke to a member of the crew who confirmed we should board his boat. The one hour cruise itself was worthwhile and takes in the nearest Archipelago island. Our guide was entertaining in fluent English.

I had great help from Maria to give me good recommendations and help. She really took her time and answered any questions I had. I really liked the boat ride too.

We went with M/S Aphrodite IV, Fantastic guided tour with knowledgeable guides with a lot of humor. Very knowledgeable about Stockholm and a fun way to learn more about the city and its history. Do not book with any other company before you try this one from Strömma.

Firstly, unless you are fluent in Swedish don’t use their website to book. I was certain I booked for today until the tickets arrived dated in 2 weeks. The ticket office by the quay needed a 10 minute phone call to sort it out. The ship and the scenery are wonderful. However in the 2 1/2 hour trip the guide said “to your left” 3 times at most. This meant looking through 2 windows and the central cabin for a poor view uncertain of what she was talking about. When I commented after the trip the guide told me “you should have sat on the right hand side”. As we passed over the site of the Vasa sinking (the World’s most famous maritime weight distribution problem) this attitude is curious at best.
