Der charmante Name der Farm leitet sich von der legendären Schildkrötenkolonie ab, die im 19. Jahrhundert im Vlei gefunden wurde. Das schöne Stück Land wurde Skilpadvlei genannt und befindet sich seit 1917 in den Händen der Familie Joubert. Heute hält Willie Joubert in der vierten Generation an der stolzen Familientradition fest, das reiche Potenzial des Landes mit einem engagierten Engagement für Qualität zu nutzen. Skilpadvlei ist eine voll funktionsfähige 78 ha große Farm.
Das Neethlingshof Estate liegt etwas außerhalb der schönen Stadt Stellenbosch im Herzen der Cape Winelands. Eine ikonische Allee mit imposanten Zirben markiert den Eingang zum Bauernhof und führt zum traditionellen „Werf“ des Anwesens. Das vor mehr als 300 Jahren gegründete Anwesen Neethlingshof verfügt über einige der am besten restaurierten und erhaltenen traditionellen kapholländischen Gebäude, die den Besuchern einen ausgeprägten Sinn für Geschichte und Charme der alten Welt vermitteln. De Waal Wines befindet sich auf dem Uiterwyk Estate im kühlen Stellenbosch Kloof Valley und ist seit 1864 ein Familienunternehmen von De Waal. Die Erfahrung, die auf den Besucher wartet, ist authentisch und mit persönlicher Aufmerksamkeit des praktischen Managements zurückhaltend. Dieses historische Familienerbe, das Pieter de Waal gehört, besteht aus neun Generationen leidenschaftlicher Winzer, die sich ganz darauf konzentrieren, ihre Kunden mit außergewöhnlichen Weinen zu begeistern. Carlo was our guide. He is knowledgeable, interesting and fun to bike with. He made us discover the wineries hillsides of Stellenbosch while enjoying a great bike ride and stopping at 4 vineyards where we tasted wines and local food samples. I highly recommend this experience with Carlo.

Two guides gave us a very well-led tour. We had extensive wine tastings. We rode on good e-bikes along various paths through the vineyards.

We visited an excellent range of Stellenbosch Vineyards and tried 20 different good quality wines in some amazing settings. The E-Bikes were very easy to use and Lee was a very knowledgeable and fun guide. Highly recommend the trip.

We had the most incredible day! The E-bikes were top quality and our Guides were knowledgeable and very helpful. The wine farms we visited had fantastic tastings and pairings and we had a lovely lunch at Jordan overlooking a beautiful dam. The route is manageable for all standards of cyclists and all in all is a brilliant day of exercise, food, wine and fun!

We booked the private luxury tour for our family of five with kids ages 12, 15, 17. E-Bikes were high quality and worked great on uphill and made the cycling easy for those who didn’t want too much effort. The wineries we visited were high quality (Neethlingshof, De Waal and Jordan (amazing property with incredible views) and then ended with a cheesecake and wine tasting at Skilpadvlei - where the company starts and ends their tours and where you pick up your bike. Our guide, Abi, was really fantastic. The entire family really loved the experience! Highly recommend.

What an experience to cycle through all those vineyards and watch the locals at work. The area is very hilly so it is nice to have some support from the e bike. The very friendly guide Philip knew a lot about the history, the wine and nature. Along the way you will visit a wine estate and also taste wines. You also end up at a wine estate where you can taste again and even have your lunch if you want. We did a half day tour in the morning. Definitely recommended to do! The bike tour through Cape Town on the regular mountain bike accompanied by AIF is also a must! If you're here you just have to make this trip through this organization. And anything is possible.
