2-Der Bahia-Palast wurde in den letzten Jahren des 19. Jahrhunderts erbaut. Der Palast ist ein Labyrinth aus Innenhöfen, die mit Obstbäumen, Gängen und leeren Kammern mit bemalten Decken bepflanzt sind. Das Sonnenlicht scheint durch schmiedeeiserne Stangen und erzeugt wunderschöne Muster auf dem Zellige Fliesen.
Die Ben Youssef Madrasa ist eine historische islamische Hochschule in Marrakesch, Marokko. Sie ist nach der angrenzenden Ben-Youssef-Moschee benannt und wurde 1564–65 n. Chr. vom saadischen Sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib in Auftrag gegeben. Auf ihrem Höhepunkt war sie die größte islamische Hochschule im Maghreb und wird als Höhepunkt der saadischen und marokkanischen Architektur gefeiert1. Die Madrasa diente als Lernzentrum, in dem die Schüler in malikitischem islamischem Recht, Rechtswissenschaft und verschiedenen Lesarten des Korans unterrichtet wurden. Die Saadier-Dynastie, bekannt für ihre Abstammung als Sharifs (Nachkommen Mohammeds), errichtete die Madrasa nach einem Stil, der während der früheren Marinidenzeit etabliert wurde. Es bot Platz für über 800 Studenten und war bis 1960 in Betrieb, bevor es 1982 renoviert und als historische Stätte wieder für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht wurde. Im November 2018 wurde es wegen Restaurierung erneut geschlossen und im April 2021 wiedereröffnet. Bekannt für die Verwendung von Zedernholz, Ziegeln und Fliesen, die eine atemberaubende visuelle Darstellung islamischer Kunst schaffen.

A beautiful activity that I recommend if this is your first visit to Marrakech. Do not hesitate to take a guide on the first day of your stay to better understand how the Medina and the souks work. The history, anecdotes, and kindness of our guide Youssef will remain a wonderful experience.

A great tour of the main attractions of central Marrakesh. We were able spend enough time at each venue and our guide gave us insightful explanations of the buildings history. It’s a great tour to do on the first day of your visit to get an excellent introduction to the city. Would highly recommend.

Our tour guide Mohamed showed up in the hotel early, which i appreciated. The medina is quite large with many side streets and it was nice to have someone show us around who is knowledgeable and explain things . Mohamed is a very pleasant guide and speaks excellent English.

We were picked up from our riad and visited the Medersa Ben Youssef (entry 5 Euros), then walked through the souks to the Jardin Secret (entry 10 Euros) and then walked some more through the souks ending in the main square, the Jemma al-Fnaa. Our guide told us about the dynastic history of Morroco and each of the places we visited. This was all pretty interesting. What we were less content about was firstly at each site the guide left us on our own to wander about - in the Jardin Secret for more than half an hour suggesting we get a coffee (which we didn't want). He then took us to several shops were we felt quite pressurised to buy and had to be clear that we were not interested. In the natural goods pharmacy we were immediately offered mint-tea and then given a very hard sell and we felt obliged to buy things we had not intended to get. Meanwhile our guide was having tea on the rooftop. Throughout, sadly, it felt as though we were being guided to spending opportunities. So, yes, do this tour but make it clear (if this is the case) that you do not want to do any shopping at all and don't necessarily need a coffee stop!
