Das Massaker von Srebrenica, auch Srebrenica-Völkermord genannt, war der Völkermord von mehr als 8000 Bosniaken im Juli 1995, hauptsächlich von Männern und Jungen, in und um die Stadt Srebrenica während des Bosnienkrieges. Die Morde wurden von Einheiten der bosnisch-serbischen Armee der Republika Srpska (VRS) unter dem Kommando von Ratko Mladić verübt. Sie werden den Fall Jugoslawiens verstehen, wie und warum das Massaker passiert ist.

Die Stadt Srebrenica liegt etwa zweieinhalb Stunden von der Stadt Sarajevo entfernt. Während Sie die Landschaft genießen können, beginnen wir unsere Präsentation mit detaillierten, chronologisch geordneten Geschichten, damit Sie eine komplexe Angelegenheit der "Jugoslawischen Kriege" verstehen können, die für Ihr Verständnis des Srebrenica-Völkermords von entscheidender Bedeutung ist. Unser erster Halt ist vor der Batteriefabrik, die von den UN-Streitkräften während des Bosnienkrieges benutzt wurde. Im früheren Hauptquartier des niederländischen Bataillons befindet sich heute eines der modernsten Museen in Bosnien und Herzegowina, das „Museum des Genozids von Srebrenica“. Dort treffen wir den Kurator und erfahren aus erster Hand, wie es in der Enklave Srebrenica überlebt hat. Das Museum verfügt über multimediale Einrichtungen mit einer Auswahl an Filmen, mit denen Sie Ereignisse nachvollziehen können, die zum schlimmsten Massaker in Europa seit dem Zweiten Weltkrieg geführt haben. Vom Museum des Genozids in Srebrenica fahren wir weiter zum Gedenkraum, wo Sie die Geschichten der Opfer hören können, die von einem lokalen Journalisten gemacht wurden. Gefundene und identifizierte Opfer ruhen auf dem Gedenkfriedhof. Nachdem wir das Potocari Memorial Center besucht haben, setzen wir unsere Reise in die Stadt Srebrenica fort. Einst Industrieführer in der Region ist heute eine Geisterstadt. Srebrenica ist auch der Ort für das Mittagessen, da es nicht viele Restaurants in der Nähe des Potocari Memorial Center gibt.

Keenan was a very considerate and knowledgable host. He answered any questions we had fully. It’s quite a difficult trip but we felt it was important to be aware and pay our respects to the fallen.
The museum was located at the former UN Dutch Battalion Headquarters. The exhibition is well designed. Worth a visit if you are interested to learn about the atrocities that took place in July 1995. A special thanks to our guide Kenan, who is very helpful and happy to answer all our questions.
It was a great experience, with good knowledge from the tour guide. I did have to contact the tour operator to confirm my pick-up location. Overall, a recommended trip.

This was a beautiful, heavy but memorable visit to learn more about the genocide and massacre that occurred in Bosnia. Before the tour, they contacted us over Whatsapp and were very accommodating and communicative. During the tour, Kenan was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide, giving us ample time to explore the museums ourselves and spent time at the cemetery. He also had great taste in music!
