Reiseverlauf

Victor was amazing! Tour was very moving and well organized. Very well done from start to finish. Great day!
I would thoroughly recommend this tour, it was honestly one of the best days of my whole trip! My tour guide Chris was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He was also happy to go off script based on what I was interested in and we managed to sneak in some extra sites beyond the usual stops, which was great! Beaumont-Hamel was a real highlight. It was so well preserved and genuinely moving. We also stopped at Delville Wood, which isn’t normally part of the tour, but it ended up being one of the moments that stuck with me the most. The tour itself was brilliant, but a big part of what made the day so special was Chris’s genuine passion for the history, it really came through and made the whole experience feel personal. If you’re after a guide who knows his stuff and truly cares about what he does, I’d thoroughly recommend this tour and Chris.
A day trip, visiting these now quiet but oddly beautiful WW1 battlefields, full of greenery and flowers was a truly sobering experience. The monuments to the never found are meticulously tended to, and the large loss of life for such small or no gains in terrain very apparent as you cover the region. Mathieu was a fantastic guide, with a passion for the subject, full of knowledge and took great care to accomodate the varying physical abilities of the group. Never rushing anyone, returning to the van to explain the history again when people needed to stay there to rest. Also a thoughtful and versatile conversationalist. Took us to a delicious lunch. Would highly recommend.
Thank you for your kind words. We’re delighted you found the Somme experience moving and memorable. We’ll share your lovely feedback with Mathieu. <3 Thank you for recommending us! - Alice
Great to see some interesting sights but a bit disappointed with lack of war history in that region on the drive and although the French guide was a lovely guy he was very hard to understand.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed discovering the Somme region and its important sites. We’re sorry to hear that the historical commentary and guide’s explanations did not fully meet your expectations. We appreciate your comments and will use them to continue improving the experience for our guests. - Alice
Increadibly moving. Made me even more proud to be an Australian than I already feel An exceptional leader and a lovely small group.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that the tour was such a moving experience for you. It means a lot to know you enjoyed the day and appreciated both your guide and the small-group atmosphere. We hope to welcome you again on another tour! Kind reagrds, - Alice
Our(my husband and I) tour of the Somme, Thiepval and the Australian Memorial and Monash centre was extremely well organised-meeting point was clearly flagged in the cofirmation emsil, pick-up was smooth and Frankie our tour guide was really excellent-knowldgeable, friendly with a nice, low key delivery, and he let the impact of where we were and what happened there during 1914-18 speak for itself. I would highly recommend this tour with this company to anyone.
My husband and I did the Somme battlefields tour with Chris on Sunday 21/6/26. We were the only ones on the tour so we had our guide all to ourselves. Chris had a HUGE wealth of knowledge and you could tell he was passionate about WWI history and history in general. The air conditioned mini-van was great and the pick up point was easy to get to. We visited quite a lot of sites and I really liked the John Monash Centre. I also liked getting out of Paris and seeing the beautiful countryside in the Somme area. This tour is very much geared towards Australians which was great for us. I had a special interest as my grandfather fought on the Western Front when he was only sixteen years old. We had lunch at a lovely restaurant in Albert recommended by Chris - the food and service was great and we enjoyed our conversation over lunch with Chris. This tour is totally worth it for anyone who has an interest in WWI, Western Front battles and the Anzacs. Thanks Chris for a great day !! Greg & Cheryl Australia
It was amazing. Our tour guide, Victor, was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, thoughtful and fun! We learned so much and the connections to oir Australian troops.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We’re so glad you enjoyed the tour and that Victor made it such a memorable, informative experience, especially with the powerful connections to Australian troops. Regards, - Alice
Our guide had lots of information for us. The van was very clean and comfortable and he was a safe driver. We visited all the sites and had plenty of time at each one. It was a very wonderful experience.
The Somme battlefields tour provides an excellent background of the start of WW I and the early trench warfare in NW France before the Americans entered the war. It includes war cemeteries, an excellent Australian war museum, and a visit to Amiens Cathedral.
Thank you for your review! We're glad you found the tour informative and enjoyed the Somme battlefields, memorials, and Amiens Cathedral. We appreciate your recommendation! - Alice
