Der Geopark Yehliu liegt im Bezirk Wanli in der Stadt New Taipei und ist eine der wichtigsten Attraktionen an der Nordküste Taiwans. Er beherbergt eine Reihe einzigartiger Felsformationen, die durch Wind und Meer verursacht werden, wie Pilzfelsen, Schachbrettfelsen, Spurenfossilien und all das.
Die berühmteste Felsformation ist der ikonische „Queen’s Head“, ein Pilzfelsen, der dem Profil von Englands Königin Elisabeth ähnelt. Jedes Jahr finden auf der „Yehliu Night Tour“ Lichtshows, Wasserprojektionen usw. statt, die über zehntausende Besucher anlocken, um den nachts beleuchteten Kopf der Königin zu sehen. Neben dem Queen’s Head sind weitere bemerkenswerte Formationen wie die Seekerzen, der Feenschuh, die Ingwerfelsen, der Elefantenfelsen, der Eisfelsen, der Kussfelsen und der Prinzessinnenkopf einen Blick wert.
Jiufen ist ein Bergdorf im Bezirk Ruifang, New Taipei City. Das Dorf blühte in den 1940er Jahren aufgrund der Goldminenindustrie auf und verfiel dann jahrelang. Auch wenn die goldenen Zeiten längst vorbei sind, hat dieses kleine Dorf noch viele Geschichten zu erzählen. Dort wurde der preisgekrönte Film „A City of Sadness“ des berühmten Filmregisseurs Hou Hsiao-Hsien gedreht. Sein einzigartiger historischer Hintergrund, die melancholische und emotionale Atmosphäre erregten weltweit enorme Aufmerksamkeit. Der Erfolg des Films belebte auch den Tourismus in Jiufen und machte es zum beliebtesten Reiseziel im Nordosten Taiwans. Da Sie in Jiufen sind, ist es empfehlenswert, eine Tasse Tee in einem Teehaus zu trinken, wo Sie gleichzeitig die malerische Landschaft und den frisch gebrühten Tee genießen können. Neben den Teehäusern können Sie hier auch verschiedene lokale Speisen probieren und Souvenirs kaufen. Wenn Sie eine Naschkatze sind, verpassen Sie nicht das traditionelle Jiufen-Dessert – Taro Ball!
Der Shifen-Wasserfall befindet sich im Bezirk Pingxi in der Stadt New Taipei und ist eine der beliebtesten Attraktionen in dieser Gegend, weithin bekannt als die „Kleinen Niagarafälle“ Taiwans, ein kaskadenartiger Wasserfall ähnlich den Niagarafällen Nordamerikas.
In der Nähe des Shifen-Wasserfalls gibt es mehrere Aussichtsplattformen, auf denen die Besucher den Wasserfall aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln betrachten, sogar aus der Nähe betrachten können. An sonnigen Tagen, wenn Sie Glück haben, können Sie einen schönen Regenbogen einfangen, der durch den Nebel dieses 20 Meter hohen Wasserfalls entsteht, während er in den See spritzt.
Die Shifen-Station befindet sich am Keelung-Fluss vom Wasserfallgebiet, das ursprünglich für den Transport von Kohle während der japanischen Kolonialisierung gebaut wurde. Der Bahnhof liegt direkt neben der Shifen Old Street und erinnert heute an Taiwans Geschichte. Die Straße ist gesäumt von Souvenirläden, Läden mit Himmelslaternen und Restaurants. Sie können auch viele Leute sehen, die ihre Himmelslaternen auf den Bahngleisen aufstellen und sich darauf vorbereiten, sie in den Himmel zu entlassen. Natürlich lassen Sie es sich nicht nehmen, diese besondere Tradition zu erleben. 3 oder 4 Personen teilen sich eine Laterne, und jeder von euch kann seine Wünsche auf eine Seite der Laterne schreiben. Ihr Reiseleiter bringt Ihnen bei, wie Sie eine Himmelslaterne richtig loslassen, damit Sie den ruhigen und friedlichen Moment in vollen Zügen genießen können.

Jenny, our tour guide, was very organized, informative and energetic. The tour didn’t end until close to 5pm so it was a long day but it was very interesting and lot to see. Make sure to have local currency for the shops and food as the smaller vendors do not accept credit cards. Overall a great experience!

Overall a good experience, the sites themselves were good and nice to get out of the city. The guide was a bit hit and miss - nice person and informative but quite repetitive, and fell asleep three times in transit. Guide only has one job, entertain the guests for the duration of the trip, so falling asleep was a bit disappointing. Bus was comfortable, duration itself (while day) was fine. Plenty of opportunities to find food and refreshments at each stop.

This day tour delivered what it claims. I booked a small group package tour via TripAdvisor. The tour agent provided a WhatsApp number and reply my query about pickup point immediately. Our tour guide Kevin was quite chatty and explained all the background of the places of interests. He offered to take photos at every locations. The cost of tour was reasonable, slightly lower cost would have been better. Admission fee for Yehliu Geopark and Chinese lantern flying (shared) was included but these are small cost. I will recommend this package tour for Taipei visitors.
