Chr.
Stonehenge: a prehistoric site as mysterious as it is well-preserved in the middle of fields. Regular shuttles provide the connection between the reception area and the site and protect it from hundreds of cars that thus remain a few kilometers away. Bath: a protected city, steeped in history and beautiful buildings (Roman Baths and the Abbey...) that promised a lovely time. Unfortunately, overtourism leaves the city dirty and crowded. But where is the world of Jane Austen, so rarely honored? Lacock and Avebury: Fortunately, these two picturesque and authentic villages, perfectly preserved, constitute an excellent calling card for Somerset. The residents of Lacock display local products of their own making along the streets at very friendly prices. A sweetness of life that one dreams of. Lucy, our guide: an excellent driver, very welcoming, undoubtedly full of good will and knowledge. However, there is a lack of quiet time.
My wife and I did the Stonehenge, Bath and Secret Place tour with Nolh during the London heat wave and it truly was a fantastic experience. Nolh went out of his way to make sure that the van was cool and comfortable, He also made total strangers feel comfortable by asking everyone to share a bit about themselves ... and his infectious wit and humor made the long drives of the day easy and enjoyable. He is definitely a gifted "people person." His knowledge of the sites and their history also was impressive. Stonehenge and Bath were both terrific and well-worth the visit. And the Secret Place was an unexpected, but really fun, experience. This tour was a highlight of our time in London and we highly recommend it.
The family and I came over from the US with a desire to see Stonehenge up close and were so glad we picked this tour group. The small fleet vibe gave the trip a personal touch that was right up our alley. Lucy was a legend and superbly knowledgeable of the Stones histories and MANY other subjects about Great Britain. We went down some hilariously entertaining rabbit holes and learned a ton. It's not a short drive so she paced herself well; quiet downtime with blocks of stories. She was clear in instructions and made sure we had what we needed. Her secret spot was truly a treat. The routes back even had some more surprises. 10/10. Would ride again. Thanks, Lucy! You're a gem and a half. Sincerely, Kris Kringle
The day was fun, easy, and well organized. Jon, our guide and driver, was fantastic. He shared a great combination of history and modern everyday trivia. We had the option of staying together as a group much of the time or going out on our own. The secret place was a nice end to the day and well worth it. The bus was comfortable and cool despite the warmer July temperatures.
Hi Daniel, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review! Jon is fantastic at making sure everyone has a relaxed, fun, and informative day, and we're so glad you enjoyed both his stories and the freedom to explore. It's great to hear that the air-conditioned bus kept you comfortable in the July heat and that you loved the secret end-of-day stop! We hope to see you on another tour in the future! All the best, Lilly @ The English Bus
My friends and I booked the Small Group Stonehenge, Bath and a Secret Place tour with Lucy as our guide. Although some of us had already been to London, this was our first time to see Stonehenge. It was my first time in Europe. Lucy was not only funny and entertaining but her background made her an amazing tour guide with all the knowledge and facts she had to share. The size of the group was perfect and we had plenty of time to explore each stop along the way. Without giving anything away, I was completely blown away by the secret place which Lucy chose based on her observations of the tour group and what she thought we would enjoy. I highly recommend taking a tour with The English Bus and especially with Lucy. Thanks for such a fabulous day and intro to England!
This made our day — thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review! Lucy is absolutely brilliant and we're so thrilled she made your first taste of England such a special one. The way she tailors the secret stop to each group is something really unique — it takes genuine instinct and care, and it sounds like she got it just right for you! We're very lucky to have her as part of our small team here at The English Bus. We're also so pleased the group size felt just right and that you had plenty of time to explore at each stop — that's exactly what small group touring should feel like. Thanks again for choosing to travel with us, and for such a wonderful recommendation. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure with The English Bus one day — check our website for live availability and best prices. All the best for now, Jen
Our driver and guide on The English Bus was Cara. She was absolutely fantastic. We felt safe and comfortable. Cara was very friendly and knowledgeable. We purchased the Stonehenge, Bath, and a secret place tour. It was a fun 11.5 hour day that felt like much less time. Stonehenge was amazing. Bath is a beautiful city. The Roman Bath museum was very interesting. Just an fyi, enrty tickets to enter each of these 2 World Heritage UNESCO sites are separate from the tour price. But well worth it. Cara said she was originally from Bath and offered a walking tour. Along with many suggestions on what to see and where to eat while visiting. She allowed a good amount of time for individuals to explore on their own. She also took a scenic route to the secret 3rd destination. So we got to see even more than we thought would. I highly recommend The English Bus tours. Pick up and drop off points for the tour were very convenient. The pacing was not too rushed. We felt that we had enough time in each place that we visited. The tour is well thought out and timed for such a long day. It was truly enjoyable. My family and I did the Stonehenge, Bath and Secret Place tour with Nolh and it truly was a fantastic experience. We did three day tours (two with another company) during our trip and this was hands down our most favorite of the three. The van was comfortable, Nolh created a community by taking the time to get to learn a little bit about each person which made the day more enjoyable. He combined humor and wit to his commentary that was much appreciated. This was without a doubt one of our favorite activities of our trip.
Hi Ernie, We're absolutely delighted to read this — thank you so much for taking the time to write! It means a great deal to hear that out of all your day tours, ours was the favourite — and we're not at all surprised that Nolh had something to do with that! The way he takes the time to get to know each guest and bring the group together is something really special, and his humour and wit make for such a brilliant day on the road. We're very lucky to have him as part of our small team here at The English Bus. Thanks again for choosing to travel with us. Alex is very knowledgeable about all things with London and all the places we visited. He was very interactive and also wanted to know our knowledge of British history during the ride. I really enjoyed his sense of humor. Alex is an excellent driver and was very attentive to our needs and comfort. I highly recommend The English Bus Tour!
We're absolutely delighted to read this — and we love the title, we might have to steal that! Alex really is wonderful — his knowledge, humour, and the way he gets guests involved in the conversation all make for such an enjoyable day on the road. We're very lucky to have him as part of our small team here at The "Great" English Bus. Thanks again for choosing to travel with us, and for such a lovely recommendation. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure with The English Bus one day — check our website for live availability and best prices. All the best for now, Jen
Meeting place & time were well defined. Two busses showed up for two different tours. Both operators were well organized, knew exactly who was on which tour, and provided the standard safety briefing. Our operator was Val. She has in-depth knowledge of the sites we went to and her presentation style is enthusiastic. She mentioned one of her interests was history and it showed during her presentations. Not only does she know the facts, but she also has knowledge of the more recent discoveries, studies, and the impacts. Val gave clear cut instructions at each site as to how to access it, the return time and location. Driving to/from the sites was uneventful and she professionally navigated the London traffic with ease. Val is truly a guide and its up to you to discover beyond that. She did offer a short walking tour in Bath. We went to Stone Henge, Bath, and a "Secret Place". Be aware this is an all day excursion. Trying to fit Windsor into this tour in a single day is too much.
Hi there, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thorough account of your day! We're so pleased everything ran smoothly from the meeting point onwards, and that the organisation and safety briefing gave you confidence right from the start. Val is an absolute gem — her knowledge of the sites (and her genuine love of history) really does shine through, and we're thrilled she gave you that little bit extra at each stop, right down to the bonus walking tour in Bath. I'll be sure to pass on your kind words to her — it'll mean a lot. Thank you too for the honest note on timings — it's really useful for future guests to know it's a full day well spent, taking in Stonehenge, Bath, and a few secrets along the way - and exactly why we don't try to cram a visit to Windsor into our already very full day. Thanks again for choosing to travel with us. All the best for now, Jen @ The English Bus
