Slowlife Family Farm- Kochen Sie mit uns Vom Garten zum Tisch Syrakus

Beschreibung

There are cooking classes, there are farm-to-table experiences... and then there is Slow Life Family Farm. This isn't something you simply do while visiting Sicily. It's something you feel long after you've left. Every detail reflects generations of pride and intention. The wheat is grown on the farm, then milled into flour before becoming the pasta and bread you'll help prepare. The fruits, vegetables, herbs, olive oil, cheeses, and wines aren't marketing points—they're the authentic expression of a family that has lived this way for generations. The experience is beautifully hands-on. Carlo, Jessie, and their incredible team welcome you like family. Together, you'll harvest from the garden, prepare an unforgettable meal, learn traditional techniques, and discover why food has always been at the heart of Sicilian life. Every step has purpose, and every tradition has a story. Throughout the day, Carlo shares stories about his Nonna and the generations that came before him. Whether speaking about family traditions, farming, or the values that shaped their lives, her wisdom becomes woven into the experience. It serves as a beautiful reminder that the greatest recipes aren't simply written down—they're passed from one generation to the next through stories, shared meals, and time spent together. And the food... We have been fortunate enough to dine at many of the world's celebrated restaurants, including Michelin-starred establishments where every plate is meticulously engineered. Yet somehow, this meal delivered even more memorable flavors and moments of genuine culinary discovery. Every bite challenged our palate in the best possible way, whether it was the impossibly fresh ricotta, the toasted sesame drizzled with their extraordinary olive oil, or the simplest ingredients transformed through generations of knowledge. It wasn't about complexity or presentation. It was about authenticity, balance, and flavors so pure that they completely redefined what those ingredients could taste like. The fresh ricotta will absolutely blow your mind. The toasted sesame dipped into their extraordinary olive oil is one of those deceptively simple combinations that transcends time. Every dish celebrates ingredients at their absolute best. The natural wines flow generously throughout the meal, turning strangers into friends as stories and laughter fill the table. The setting is pure magic. Beneath the cool shade of towering trees, with the gentle sound of a flowing stream nearby, the pace of modern life fades away. For a few precious hours, you're reminded what it feels like to truly slow down. What makes this place extraordinary isn't just the incredible food or the idyllic setting- it's the people. Their pride in their family, their land, and their traditions is evident in everything they do. They don't perform Sicilian culture for visitors—they simply open their home, their table, and their hearts. They are not simply Italian. **They ARE Italy.** Without question, this was one of the most authentic, meaningful, and unforgettable experiences of our travels. If you come to Sicily and only have time for one experience, make it this one. You'll leave with far more than recipes, you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for family, tradition, and the beauty of slowing down.
There aren’t a lot of places that make you feel like family in a foreign country. But I won’t lie to y’all, being here felt like being with cousins. Carlos and Jessie do the best job displaying local culture and cooking local food. I’m here from Ohio with my family on a week long trip and I cannot write a higher recommendation. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
We have traveled a lot in Europe but never experienced anything as authentic and enjoyable as our day on The Slowlife Family Farm. If you come to Sicily this must be part of your itinerary.
Carlo and Jessie are the most wonderful hosts and gave us such a special time at their amazing farm. The whole experience was truly fabulous….and so much fun! Their generosity, graciousness and kindness to us was beyond words. They shared their lives, their food and their culinary skills with us, and we met and shared life with 20 fellow travellers to the Siracusa area who had also been blessed by choosing this tour. We’ve seen and done some incredible things in Sicily, but this was definitely the best experience of our holiday. Thank you Jessie and Carlo!!
you can’t really put into words the most incredible sanctuary that carlo and jessie have created. it’s an honour to experienced this. from the get go they were fantastic - supporting with transport as i was a solo traveller - they put me in touch with others in my area so we could get there together. as soon as we arrived we were made to feel right at home - the warm welcome from carlo set the tone for what only was to become one of my favourite days ever. the knowledge, passion and Love that carlo, jessie and their team have is seen in every element of this experience. I loved learning about their journey, the land and then getting involved - that’s what really made this experience - we all contributed and felt part of this community they have created. there was singing, laughing, tears, many toasts and some of the most delicious food i have ever eaten… what’s better is we knew where everything came from. The wine down the road, the almonds from neighbours, the amazing cheese, the olive oil and the harvest from the garden - everything had a story and that’s what made this experience 10/10. I actually planned my short trip to sicily around this experience and it exceeded all expectations. I left feeling inspired, full of love and very delicious food and wine! I can’t wait to be back - you would be silly to miss this! Thank you for it all!!
We lived a rare, authentic experience, capable of surprising us beyond imagination. In this small corner of Sicily we met a family that, with courage, preserves and renews one of the most alive traditions of this land: homemade cuisine, in which we too were the undisputed protagonists, and toasts that celebrate and perpetuate an ancient tradition .. Of what happened, I choose not to reveal everything. To leave room for surprise, enchantment, the magic of what can still be experienced today, in a world that too often puts the human in the background. I wish you a happy experience of body and soul! Trying to believe 😉❤️
We did the Garden to Table cooking class at Slow Life Family Farm and honestly it was the highlight of our time in Sicily. Jessie and Carlo were so welcoming from the moment we arrived, and within half an hour we were out in the garden picking vegetables that we later cooked so many different dishes with. The day was relaxed but full of food — we made salads, roasted veg, lots of different small dishes, and of course the ricotta ravioli which was the star of the day for me. Cooking outdoors with people from all over the world was such a lovely experience. By the time we sat down at the big long table, it felt like one big family meal. What I loved most was how genuine it felt. Nothing touristy or rushed — just real Sicilian life, great food, and amazing company. There’s even a lagoon on the farm so bring swimwear if you want to jump in between cooking!
I am a professional tour guide with 30 years of experience, and I’ve had the chance to accompany my guests who booked this experience… and it’s something magical that happens the moment we park the cars. Carlo and Jessie welcome you, and we immediately start by presenting their garden, lovingly cared for by them and completely organic. Before picking tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers, there’s a beautiful story explaining their choice to live away from the city, close to nature, with everything grown locally. After filling the baskets, handwoven by Jessie, Carlo’s wife, who together have created this paradisaical oasis, we move to the outdoor kitchen, where we begin preparing a meal made of fresh vegetables and traditional Sicilian dishes, accompanied by heartfelt toasts and songs. Sometimes the whole family helps, including their children Alfeo and Flora, while the dogs complete this idyllic scene, which lasts until early afternoon. By the end, I’ve noticed a change in people’s expressions: their eyes are moist, smiles are wide. They are no longer just guests—they have become part of this wonderful family that welcomes and pampers them for the entire time they stay on the farm. An experience to live at least once in a lifetime.
Carlo and Jessie served the best food I’ve ever tasted, and their cooking experience was the highlight of my time in Sicily. It’s not just a cooking class, it’s a full day filled with warmth, history, and unforgettable moments. We picked fresh vegetables from the garden, cooked together in their outdoor kitchen by the river, and learned about the traditions of Sicilian food while sharing wine, toasts, songs, and laughter. Carlo is a wonderful storyteller, and the whole day felt like being part of a big family. Between the cooking, eating, swimming, and even jumping from the rocks into the river, everything was simply magical. I can only recommend it to anyone thinking about going. It’s an experience that will stay with me for a long time!
The best day in Sicily for us was spent with Carlo and Jesse at Slow Life family farm. They are wonderful people, their farm is beautiful and all organic, the property is an archaeological marvel, the stories will touch your heart, and the food is unbelievably delicious. The wine, laughter, and sound of a flowing river will underscore the experience and make it unforgettable :) highly recommend and we'll definitely be back :)
