Die 1885 vom Schokoladenmagnaten William L. Wallace erbaute Tarrytown Music Hall beherbergte Vaudeville-Acts, Stummfilme und weltberühmte Künstler. Dieses wunderschön erhaltene Theater ist auch für seine paranormalen Sehenswürdigkeiten bekannt – was es zu einem perfekten Ausgangspunkt für Sleepy Hollows Spukgeschichte macht.
Diese friedliche Grünanlage markiert genau den Ort, an dem der britische Major John André während des Revolutionskrieges gefangen genommen wurde und Benedikt Arnolds Verrat aufdeckte. Das Captors’ Monument erinnert an die drei lokalen Milizionäre, deren Wachsamkeit den Verlauf der amerikanischen Geschichte veränderte. Heute ist der Park ein malerischer, besinnlicher Stopp – mit seltsamer Aktivität im Morgengrauen.
Das Gemeindehaus in der Beekman Avenue 28. Einst ein ruhiger Verwaltungsknotenpunkt, hat dieses Backsteingebäude nach Stunden einen dunkleren Ruf. Einheimische erzählen von Gegenden, in denen Schritte bis spät in die Nacht hinein hallen und kühlende Schattenfiguren auftauchen.
Einst ein blühendes Mühlen- und Handelszentrum aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, wurde Philipsburg Manor auf der Arbeit derjenigen erbaut, deren Namen und Geschichten hier noch immer nachklingen. Besucher berichten von bizarren Aktivitäten. Sein ruhiges Äußeres verbirgt eine Geschichte, die sich weigert auszuruhen.
Diese bescheidene Überfahrt ist der legendäre Ort, an dem Ichabod Cranes Schicksal in Washington Irvings Erzählung besiegelt wurde. Obwohl die ursprüngliche Brücke verschwunden ist, behaupten die Einheimischen, dass ein getarnter Fahrer in mondlosen Nächten immer noch durch den Nebel fährt. Der Hufschlag hat mehr als ein paar Passanten erschreckt.
Die Alte Niederländische Kirche, die Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts erbaut wurde, ist eine der ältesten in New York und die Ruhestätte von Soldaten des Revolutionskrieges, Dorfbewohnern und Persönlichkeiten, die angeblich Washington Irvings Geschichte inspiriert haben. Die umliegenden Gräber neigen und zerfallen bei jahrhundertelanger Witterung.
Dieser weitläufige Friedhof wurde 1849 gegründet und ist die letzte Ruhestätte von Washington Irving und unzähligen lokalen Legenden.

Since it was so crowded, we actually did this audio tour by car and it worked out perfectly. Great way to enhance and educate yourself on the area while driving through town. (In traffic)

Scam. Don’t book this. There is no tour. Went to the Tarrytown Music Hall and was informed by the staff that is no such tour. It puts the employees in an awkward position to have to inform people that there is no such tour.

Guests access the tour directly on their smartphone and explore at their own pace, as described on your purchase voucher. This was pretty good. I did like how I could listen to the content for a week, because I missed some of the details and was able to listen again while driving home.
Pretty bloody!!! I've taken other audio tours that pulled punches, but this one is actually pretty intense. Glad I didn't have to download yet another junk app.
Actual walk and tour info entertaining, after you figured out how to get it. Takes about 11/2 hrs to complete if you check out each stops and listen to tape. That said, my assumption that we’d get a pair of headphones from a human being at the location address given was NOT the case. There is no one at the address given and no one at the address knows anything. After scouring my confirmation, I noticed a help link … which takes you to a chat link where you fill in a lot of info and somehow get to another link that supplies the Tour, locations and audio. EarPods are recommended…. However, if your a small group , 2 , only buy 1 ticket and you can easily listen together on speaker.

Never received a confirmation email with the link to start the self guided walking tour. Had to call a customer service number. She sent me the link. After trying, trying to put in the excruciating amount of information that for some reason you were looking for, we were still unable to start the tour. Absolutely ridiculous and seems like a scam to me.

The time that we were supposed to go to the music hall it's wasn't open to visitors. Another of the locations was also closed for an event. The information provided as a guide was minimal and didn't really provide guidance. Won't purchase one of these self guided tours again.

Very fun and very long. I think it was two miles. Went into the headless horseman stuff, including the site of the old bridge and the graveyard where he is said to be buried. Honestly pretty creepy tour. I was tired at the end and took an Uber from the last stop, its more of a straight line than a loop.
Very good. Wish it was in Spanish. Actually bloodier and gorier than I expected. I like that kind of stuff but it might be too bloody for young kids.
