Nachdem ich Sie von Ihrem Hotel in Brasov abgeholt habe, fahren wir etwa anderthalb Stunden nach Viscri, während ich Ihnen die Anfänge der rumänischen Geschichte vorstelle. Der erste Besuch ist Viscri, ein charmantes Dorf in einer ländlichen Gegend Siebenbürgens. Sie wurde ursprünglich von den Székelys, den frühesten Siedlern Siebenbürgens, gegründet und erlebte später im 12. und 13. Jahrhundert einen Zustrom sächsischer Kolonisten. Das Dorf beherbergt die ikonische Viscri-Festungskirche, die zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe gehört und eine der bekanntesten in Rumänien ist.
Eine halbe Autostunde von Viscri entfernt ist unser nächster Halt die Festung Sighișoara. Dieses historische Juwel gehört zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe im Herzen Siebenbürgens und versetzt Sie mit seinen farbenfrohen Gebäuden, gepflasterten Straßen und der gut erhaltenen Architektur aus dem 14. Jahrhundert in die Vergangenheit. Sighișoara ist die Heimat des berühmten Uhrturms und der Ort, an dem Vlad der Pfähler seine ersten Lebensjahre verbrachte. Erkunden Sie die mittelalterliche Zitadelle, schlendern Sie über die bezaubernden Plätze und spüren Sie das Echo jahrhundertealter Geschichten. Auf dem Rückweg von Sighisoara machen wir Halt an der Rupea-Festung. Auch wenn dies keine UNESCO-Sehenswürdigkeit ist wie die anderen beiden, die wir gerade besucht haben, ist es einen Besuch wert. Dieses Juwel wurde von den Siebenbürger Sachsen erbaut und bereits 1324 urkundlich erwähnt. Die Rupea-Festung steht stolz auf einem 120 Meter hohen Basaltfelsen westlich der Stadt Rupea. Diese mittelalterliche Festung hatte im 14. Jahrhundert eine bedeutende strategische Bedeutung und diente als wichtige Verbindung zwischen Siebenbürgen, Moldawien und der Walachei. Von der Rupea-Festung aus fahren wir etwa eine Stunde zurück und beenden diese Tour wieder in Ihrem Hotel in Brasov.

Adrian was a knowledgeable guide, giving us detailed historical information on the sites we visited. He was comfortable to be with. He is a good driver in a comfortable vehicle.
We had such a lovely day with Adrian. He was so knowledgeable- I now know more about medieval Transylvania and Vlad the Impaler than I will ever remember, and we also got a sense of the modern politics of Romania. He was very alert to any pace difficulties and adjusted accordingly and even spotted when food was needed. These places are stupendous and we couldn’t have seen them with a more fabulous guide/companion.

Adrian is very knowledgeable, clearly has a passion for his country's history and is so engaging. He was flexible with my planning and requests. He has plenty of suggestions for places to visit, extra activities and wonderful food! Amazing tour and tour guide. The first fort was interesting but the highñights were the two UNESCO cities. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. I highly, highly recommend taking this tour with Adrian of you are at all interested in learning about the country you are visiting!
It was a really lovely experience. I was amazed by the amount of information that Adrian posesed about history of Transylvania and the passion that he speaks with. He is an incredible and patient guide, he showed us so many interesting things that it would have impossible for us to know. This tour was so great! I love that it was private- as in just my husband and myself with our guide, Adrian! It was a long day but so worth it. Adrian is so knowledgeable, and it’s impressive how much information he shared with us off the top of his head. We had great weather the day we went, so the views we had from up top at each of our stops were spectacular. Our guide was very personable, and when he wasn’t sharing historical information, we engaged in great conversations throughout the day, which made it even better- as if we were spending the day with a new friend who was showing us around a country we had never visited before. We also had a great lunch all together in the afternoon, so that was a nice break. My husband and I are so fascinated with Romania, and even more so now and can’t wait to go back and see/learn more!

Adrian’s depth of knowledge and love of his country’s history made this a truly memorable experience. My wife and I have been on many group tours which just can’t compare to the personalization Adrian was able to accommodate us with since this was a very specialized “private” tour. We visited 3 historical sites, one of which is a UNESCO site, and when taken together they really explained the history of Transylvania and its importance on the world stage and enormous global events that continue to shape our common history.
