Bereit, über Mexiko-Stadts wahren Herzschlag zu schweben – nicht die Postkartenversion? Wir haben ein gemeinsames Erlebnis in kleinen Gruppen in Iztapalapa, einem der authentischsten Viertel von CDMX, mit Streetfood, lokalen Traditionen, urbaner Kultur und tief verwurzelter Geschichte aufgebaut. Wir starten Downtown und fahren wie Einheimische mit der Metro von Mexiko-Stadt, während wir auspacken, wie sich diese Megacity bewegt (und warum das wichtiger ist, als man denkt). Als nächstes machen wir Halt in einem lokalen Museum, um Iztapalapas Geschichte und seine Rolle als Kraftwerk der Gemeinschaftskultur zu verstehen. Dann kommt der Showstopper : die Seilbahnlinie 2, eine von Guinness anerkannte Strecke, die als längste städtische Seilbahnlinie der Welt bekannt ist und atemberaubende Panoramablicke auf das Tal bietet, während wir über die Stadt gleiten. Zwischen den Fahrten geht es in den vollen „Lokalmodus“ : ein Nachbarschaftsmarkt für ernsthaft gute Tacos, und wir wickeln mit einem Toast Pulque, einem traditionellen prähispanischen Getränk, ein – denn Ihre Mexiko-Stadt-Reise verdient mindestens eine Geschichte, die Ihre Freunde nicht haben werden.

Wir haben ein Iztapalapa-Erlebnis abseits der ausgetretenen Pfade entworfen – einen echten Blick auf den CDMX-Alltag, vollgepackt mit Streetfood, lokaler Kultur und tiefen Wurzeln, die bis zu den Azteken zurückreichen. Fernab der Touristenblase ist dieses Viertel eines der dynamischsten Viertel der Stadt, in dem Street Art, Gemeinschaftsprojekte und neue öffentliche Räume aktiv ihre Identität neu gestalten. Kurz gesagt: authentisches Mexiko-Stadt, von oben und aus nächster Nähe – und ja, es wird ein anderes „gleichaltriges“ Centro-Foto schlagen.
Dieses Abenteuer beginnt in Downtown Mexico City, direkt vor dem Palacio de Bellas Artes. Von dort steigen wir in die Metro und fahren in die Vororte – mit denselben Verkehrsmitteln, auf die die Einheimischen angewiesen sind –, während wir erklären, wie Mobilität in einer der größten Städte der Welt funktioniert (und warum sie hier den Alltag prägt).
Während der Tour werden wir mit der Metro Mexiko-Stadt, dem Rückgrat des Alltags hier, durch Mexiko-Stadt – und nach Iztapalapa – ziehen. Unterwegs bekommen Sie ein echtes Gespür für lokale Routinen und erfahren, warum die Metro nicht nur Transport ist – es ist das System, das diese Megacity am Laufen hält.
Als nächstes besuchen wir ein lokales Museum, um in die Geschichte und die kultigste kulturelle Tradition Iztapalapas einzutauchen – eine epische, von der Gemeinschaft geleitete Karwochenaufführung, die als eine der größten ihrer Art weltweit bekannt ist.
Danach kommt das Hauptereignis : Wir fahren mit der Mexico City Cable Car und gleiten über die Straßen für Panoramablicke auf das Tal – mit einem Sitzplatz in der ersten Reihe zu der bunten Straßenkunst der Gegend und der Skala von CDMX vom Himmel.
Wir machen einen Marktstopp, um einen klassischen Taco-Spot zu probieren, auf den Einheimische schwören – einfach, authentisch und köstlich.
Schließlich fahren wir mit der U-Bahn nach Hause zurück und beenden unsere Reise in einer Bar in der Innenstadt, um mit einem prähispanischen Getränk anzustoßen: dem Getränk der Götter.

A safe flight over the working-class neighborhoods of Mexico City with our guide Ramón, native of Iztapalapa. He gave us a lot of information about the evolution of the neighborhood from the 1980s to the present. Dinner in a typical market was a great experience. Ramon was thoughtful and very kind. We highly recommend this experience.
Had a great time on the CableCar tour, Aaron was an excellent guide! We saw a lot of things we otherwise wouldn't have gotten around to: multiple forms of public transit, local market experience, pulque, and more. Learned a lot about the history and culture, and he answered all our questions. Highly recommend!
Aaron was an amazing guide! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Tour was great. Rode the metro and car cable, ate great food at a stop along the way and ended with some pulque. Highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about Mexico.
Ramon was a delightful tour guide. The excursion led us through the subway & the blue line cable bus where we were treated to a local market and delicious lunch. Along the way Ramon explained many important historical facts as well as explanations of local culture & things important to Mexican people. Experiencing the city this way is highly recommended if you truly enjoy understanding the culture! Culmination of our little journey at Garabaldi square where locals hang out. We said cheers @ a pulqueria & said our fairwells then finished our day walking around Historic down town. Enjoyable person to meet, we sincerely loved the conversations!
Ramon gave us a personal and detailed new layer of knowledge about CMX. We were a small group of 5 friends with various interests. Ramon was warm and gave us a sense of walking and talking with a friend. He could answer our questions on history, politics, geology, culture and customs …. Travelling on transit and walking less touristed paths (we didn’t see another group all day) with someone that was proudly describing their home was a highlight of our time here. Food was great, drink was … interesting! Thank you so much, 10/10!

Highly recommend this tour! We had both +70 year olds and 7 year old and everyone got something from the experience. This really helps gather perspective of how large and diverse the city is. We would have never explored on our own and learned so much about the history and present day.
I must say thanks to Cecilia who was very knowledgable and spoke both English/Spanish very well...for the amazing tour .All the places in the tour were interesting including travel by metro but obviously cablebus ride was the most enjoyable part..we had food in a local market in the Iztapalapa area and the local Mexican drink Pulque at the end of tour at Garibaldi ,both were very authentic ..I would recommend this tour especially with Cecilia any day ...
From start to finish the tour was well executed. Cecilia gave an excellent introduction at the meeting location of what to expect and she delivered. She was not rushed and answered all our questions. Unlike routine tour of museums this tour presented an interesting cultural overview of real places and real people. Would definitely highly recommend.
