This experience was one of the best experiences I've ever taken in my life. I didn't think that I would ever do something like this, and the fact that I throughly enjoyed every moment of it made me feel like I made the right choice. I felt safe and the instructors were very knowledgeable about what needed to be done in order for us to have a safe yet fun experience.
The under water ropes which we constantly hold were dirty with mold and also had for. Coral growling on them. I got a painful burn on my hand. Also the stairs leading to the ocean floor are slippery with algae. I mentioned this to the manager of the activities he told the diver helpers to clean it and they laughed at him. The helmet was ok but quite heavy on my shoulders. We loved seeing lots of different aquatic species but I feel misled. The reviews were all so good which is why I picked this activity. I also threw up a lot after the activity. The manager said it’s not unusual but we were not forewarned. The video is extra $$$ it’s 8 minutes. That was ok but the photos were not great.
Hello Shruti, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are glad to hear you enjoyed seeing Cozumel's beautiful marine life, but we are deeply concerned to hear about the rest of your experience, as guest safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the burning you experienced and for the post-dive nausea. Because our experience takes place in a natural ocean environment, the handrails and stairs do experience natural algae and coral growth. Even though these areas are routinely cleaned for a safe grip, quick regrowth which can sometimes cause minor stings or scrapes. Regarding the helmets, they are designed to be heavy to keep you safely submerged and stable on the ocean floor, but we always want our guests to feel prepared for how that feels. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the photo packages and will review this with our multimedia team. We would appreciate the chance to learn more about your visit so we can look into this further. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at info@SeaTrekCozumel.com. Warm regards, The Sea Trek Cozumel Team
Guide was extremely helpful. Showed me the fish life, let a tiny crab crawl in my hand. Also some extreme long legged twig spider thing danced on my open hand. Fed the fish and got to pet several of them! What a treat!! Can't wait to see the photos. Highly recommend them. Close to the Cruiseport <(15 mins) so can be done completely under 2 hrs Instructions/ swimsuits/ helmet trek/shower rinse off saltwater/ dry off change into dry clothes. Really good if you have limited time and you want something that's unique.
The staff was great but the experience was lackluster. The glass surface on the helmet is segmented. Unless your looking straight ahead everything is distorted (like accidentally looking through a bifocal). You can't bend over or look up so your stuck looking straight ahead and missing all the fish. If you look down it looks like your going to fall down a hill and it was difficult to grab ahold of the rope. It left people in our party nauseous. There is no refund if you cannot equalize the pressure in your ears.
Hello Jessica, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us and for your kind words about our staff. We are glad to hear they took good care of you, but we are sorry to hear that the underwater experience fell short of your expectations and left some of your party feeling unwell. Because of the way light refracts through water and the thick safety glass of the Sea Trek helmet, it does create a flat, segmented field of view. This design is necessary to keep the helmet safe and pressurized, but it means that looking out of the sides can cause a visual distortion—much like a bifocal lens—which can unfortunately contribute to motion sickness or nausea for some guests. We always recommend that our walkers turn their entire heads rather than just their eyes, and we apologize if this wasn't made clearer before your dive. Regarding our ear equalization policy, because we reserve your slot and equipment ahead of time, we are unable to offer refunds if a guest is unable to equalize. However, our divers do their absolute best to assist guests and go as slowly as needed during the descent. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us understand how we can better prepare future guests for the unique physics of walking underwater. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to reach out to us directly at info@SeaTrekCozumel.com. Best regards, The Sea Trek Cozumel Team
This is the most fabulous excursion I’ve ever done. You have a helmet to breathe and it keeps you on the bottom. You are maybe 20-25’ downd. The fish are awesome. As you walk along the ocean floor they point out different things and let you hold the specimens. A conch shell with traveller, a rock crab and this crazy thing that was a cross between a daddy longlegs and a shrimp. Yes I bought the video!!!
The check-in process was quick and easy. All the employees were very professional and attentive. The underwater experience was great. The food and drinks were good. The employees will tell you that being underwater causes pressure in your ears, similar to being on an airplane. I felt the pressure was worse than being on an airplane and it stayed with me for the rest of the day. If this would be an issue for you, you may want to reconsider going on this excursion.
This experience was so much fun! Lockers were provided for all our gear as well as showered and changing rooms. There were four divers with our group of 7 which made us feel very safe under the surface. They were very attentive the entire time making sure everyone felt comfortable. They also had a lot of fun with us during the dive. I couldn’t stop the smiles! Their photography skills are excellent as well. Loved the video they made of us for the entire experience. So much fun!
Hi I bought this from viator r even though I was traveling from Carnival Cruise . This agency is excellent and found a very safe and entertaining underwater walking experience for my whole family . Also it is just 10 minutes away from where the ship docks , and cost $10 in cab. Also this activity into end will take maximum Off 2 hours which is still lot of time for somebody who's getting down in cozumel. I highly recommend this company
I had done this before in Virgin Islands, but my husband had not and had never seen a fish underwater!! So we had a little time in the morning in Cozumel and did this Sea Trek. I think this is a great way to be underwater if you do not snorkel or scuba. For me and some of the first timers it is a comfortable way to walk underwater. Some people have problems with the pressure in their ears, i do not. I find it easy to breathe as well. This is very close to the port. It is not colorful reef, but you will see beautiful fish, and feed them. The pictures are pricey but they get some great shots. This is a very short excursion. There really was not snorkeling afterwards, be aware. The depth is about 20 feet. Easy to maneuver in and out of the water, The staff is helpful and friendly. My kids did this when they were about 10 years old and loved it. There was a little boy who was nervous in our group and he did great!!
Great experience!! The staff are well prepared and trained they give you the confidence to do it without issues
