Nach einem Transport von ca. Nach ca. 1 Stunde erreichen wir die Stadt Chinchero. Chinchero ist ein kleines indigenes Andendorf, das hoch in den windgepeitschten Ebenen von Anta auf 3765 m liegt, etwa 30 km von Cusco entfernt. Es gibt wunderschöne Ausblicke auf das Heilige Tal der Inkas, wobei das Vilcabamba-Gebirge und der schneebedeckte Gipfel des Salkantay den westlichen Horizont dominieren. Chinchero gilt als mythischer Geburtsort des Regenbogens. Die Hauptattraktion für den Tourismus ist der farbenfrohe Sonntagsmarkt, der deutlich weniger touristisch ausgerichtet ist als der Pisac-Markt. Die Stadt besteht hauptsächlich aus Lehmhäusern und die Einheimischen gehen ihren Geschäften immer noch in traditioneller Kleidung nach. Die Stadt könnte zur Inkazeit eine wichtige Stadt gewesen sein. Das auffälligste Überbleibsel dieser Zeit ist die riesige Steinmauer auf dem Hauptplatz mit zehn trapezförmigen Nischen.
Nach einer halben Stunde Transport erreichen wir unser nächstes Ziel, Moray; Überall in Cusco kann man sehen, wie fortschrittlich die Inkas in ihren landwirtschaftlichen Techniken waren, wie zum Beispiel dem Terrassensystem und der Bewässerung durch Aquädukte. In Moray beispielsweise nutzten sie kreisförmige Terrassen, die das hohe Kulturniveau der Inka-Zivilisation veranschaulichen. Moray liegt 7,2 km von der Stadt Maras und 63 km von Cusco entfernt. Das Hauptmerkmal, das Reisende beeindruckt, ist das System kreisförmiger landwirtschaftlicher Terrassen, die bis zu 330 Fuß tief sind. Sie bestehen aus Stützmauern, die durch ein Bewässerungssystem verbunden sind. Moray kann als Anbaulabor betrachtet werden: Sie nutzten die Terrassen, um Mikroklima zu schaffen und verschiedene Produkte anzubauen.
Nach einer halben Stunde Transport erreichen wir nun die Salzminen oder die berühmten „Salzbecken“ von Maras in der ländlichen Gemeinde Pichingoto. Für Fotoliebhaber ist dieser Ort wegen der beeindruckenden Landschaft, die sich in ihrer ganzen Pracht ausbreitet, sehr zu empfehlen. Auch für Wanderer und Mountainbiker ist er perfekt, da dieser Weg die Salzminen mit den Städten Tarabamba und Pichingoto verbindet. Zu den Höhepunkten dieser Gegend gehört die archäologische Stätte Moray, eine Art Amphitheater, das aus mehreren kreisförmigen Terrassen besteht. Einen Besuch wert ist auch das Tiobamaba-Heiligtum, eine aus Lehmziegeln erbaute Kolonialkirche, die Gemälde aus Cusco wie das Letzte Abendmahl beherbergt.
Nach einer einstündigen Fahrt erreichen wir die Stadt Ollantaytambo, eine charmante Stadt, die das Design der Inka-Gebäude bewahrt und auf einer Höhe von 9160 Fuß in der Provinz Urubamba liegt. Zu den beeindruckendsten Attraktionen dieses Ortes zählen der zeremonielle Tempel zur Verehrung des Wassers und eine Festung, die den Eingang zum Tal bewachte, um jede Invasion abzuwehren. Der Tempel verfügt über eine Reihe übereinander liegender Terrassen, die Besucher über eine steile Treppe erklimmen. Die Festung ist ein Steinkoloss, der zum Schutz des Tals zwischen zwei Bergen errichtet wurde. In der Gegend befinden sich auch der Tempel des Inti (Sonnengottes), Incamisana, die Bäder der Ñustas (Prinzessinnen), die Cachiccata-Grabtürme und eine Gruppe sehr steiler, abgestufter Terrassen an einem Hügel.

Transport Die faszinierenden Steinmauern von Pisac weisen ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis auf, von ihrer Größe bis hin zu den perfekten Verbindungen jedes Steins, und bilden einen wunderbaren architektonischen Komplex, der Besucher im Heiligen Tal in seinen Bann zieht. Das Wort Pisac hat einen Quechua-Ursprung und bedeutet Rebhuhn, einen hühnerähnlichen Vogel, der in der Gegend lebt. Theorien zufolge ähnelte dieser Komplex ein wenig dem „Immobilien“ des Inka Pachacutec, weshalb er über eine Vielzahl von Einrichtungen wie Terrassen, einen Zeremonienraum, Paläste, Mauern und Türme verfügt, die alle miteinander verbunden sind, ohne dass dies der Fall ist jede Art von Zusammenschluss. Intihuatana ist als wichtigste zeremonielle und religiöse Stätte in Pisac bekannt und verfügt über Gebäude aus Sedimentgestein.

Outstanding level of service, very professional guide, unbeatable buffet lunch in a magnificent location. Everything excellent!
A very long day but you get to see so many different places. They add in the obligatory stopping stops but it was fine. The only thing that seemed unorganized was we showed up at the square at exactly the time we were told and everyone was already on the bus they almost left us. Then they didn’t separate the groups into languages so our guide had to keep switching back and forth between English and Spanish.
A long day but many sites are fit in! The stops are fairly quick but they are all beautiful and our guide took great photos for us. Our only issue was with the pickup - our tickets stated we would be picked up at our hotel at 6:30am. After messaging the company around 6:45 (after waiting since 6:30) we were informed that we were supposed to be at the central Plaza at 6:15am. Our guide kindly organized a car to take us to meet the group in Chinchero, but it made for a slightly stressful and frustrating morning. If your hotel is on the narrow streets of San Blas, be sure to clarify your pickup spot. Not sure what got mixed up with ours as our tickets definitely said hotel pick up at 6:30. Overall this was a great value for the money and I would recommend it.
The tour in general was very good, the food was spectacular, and the guide was very kind. The only thing is that the van was a bit uncomfortable, especially for the trips, because of the legroom. We also felt that there was little time to explore some archaeological sites.
This tour was pretty amazing. First we got a lot for your money. However, you have to pay for your tickets in soles plus 20 to see the salt mines. And the lunch is included in this one.Benedito, I hope I am writing his name correctly, was so knowledgeable and kind. He answered many questions and cleared my mind of misconceptions. This is a tour that you should not ever miss .
The sacred valley tour we took today was exceptionally good and even a better value. We had a great, diverse group of tourists along for the ride visiting many interesting archelogical sites and related outlets for local wares. Our guide Lenin and driver were great keeping us on pace and filling us in with the history and layout of each site. The lunch buffet was impressive with a variety of fresh Andean foods. It was a lot of driving and time in the van but you pack a lot in a single day. The sacred valley and mountains are breathtaking and seeing the local communities and their lifestyle and skills very interesting. Highly recommended.
This company has serious communication issues. 1. I booked the tour with pickup at my hotel, but the night before they sent a WhatsApp message saying the meeting point was at the Plaza. I had to chase them with messages to correct this mistake. 2. I asked if I could end the tour in Ollantaytambo. They failed to mention that this would mean skipping Pisac. 3. I realized that myself and asked if they could adjust the itinerary so the last stop would be Ollantaytambo. They said yes, but it turned out they misunderstood my request — the itinerary could not be changed. 4. As a workaround, I asked if I could rejoin the tour from Ollantaytambo two days later to visit Pisac and return to Cusco. They agreed and told me to meet the group at the archaeological site at 2:30 pm. However, they ignored my request for the van’s license plate or the guide’s name and number. The parking lot was full of identical vans — how did they expect me to find the right one without that information? At that point, I gave up and decided to cut my losses. To make matters worse, at the Ollantaytambo site other guides were actively explaining things to their groups, while ours was nowhere to be found. Skip this company.
The Sacred Valley your is incredible value for money. Consider that the listed price for the buffet lunch at a very nice restaurant is 115 Soles, and that is included in the your price. The guide (Benito) was excellent and always made sure to check on the well being of everyone in the group. He explained the history and the culture of the Incas, and was very willing to answer questions. He took us to the best photo spots and he volunteered time and again to take photos. The tour price does not include the price of admission to several places (tip: buy the complete Cusco tourist ticket from the tourism office near the Plaza de Armas for 130 Soles per foreigner adult. This ticket will be good for 10 consecutive days and will be useful to visit several monuments in Cusco.) Other than that the only admission ticket we had to buy was for the salt farm (20 soles per adult foreigner). We paid Benito and he got the admission tickets without any delay for us. The van was very comfortable and was always parked where it could pick us up with the least amount of walking on our part. Benito told us about the best places to find toilets (baños). Highly recommend this tour arranged by Machu Pichu Adventour (ticketing through Viator). The only small hiccup was confusion about where we were to be picked up. Our hotel (a major one on a main avenue) was not listed and we were told by the AI agent for the tour company to go to the Plaza de Armas, but then received a Whatsapp message to wait at the hotel. A message to confirm which we had to follow went unanswered.
Bendito is an amazing guide and filled with so much knowledge. It was an incredible experience to learn so much about the history of the sacred valley and all the different places he took us to. 10/10 experience, I would highly recommend for anyone that has a day to experience the Sacred Valley.
We had the excursion with the guide Lenny and the driver Quique. Both were very good and super punctual. Lenny's explanations were super easy to understand and he was always willing to answer questions. Quique was super punctual with the transportation for the experience. Without a doubt I would recommend them.
