A great experience with Monica. Her patience, the hospitality and of course the explanation were top notch. She took the time to explain everything. And to finish off, a great dinner at the family! Highly recommended if you are near Lucca.
The registration included a walk along the market and local shops followed by a cooking workshop. Monica, however, lives a few miles outside of downtown and there is no market there. There is one shop with local products that we visited and where Monica explained in detail about the Italian products that were sold there. Very educational. Furthermore, we made our own pasta during the workshop. It's also very educational. Then had a lovely dinner at Monica. For starter bruschetta. Then the homemade pasta that was finished as pasta pesto and a delicious dessert of fruits and red wine. Monica explains everything in detail and really takes her time. The walk with workshop would be from 10.00 - 13.00 hours but with the food it took until at least 15.00 hours.
Excellent authentic experience with a wonderful host, delicious homemade food, and a memorable day. Monica, our host went above and beyond to show us a real local neighborhood store and her beautiful home and garden. We talked about local customs, food, learned a lot, and had a wonderful time!
We had a wonderful experience with our teacher, Monica in Lucca. First we went on a walking tour of the area around her home outside of Lucca. She talked to us about Italian family life and we learned about local plants and trees. We visited a family operated grocery store and learned about local products. Our pasta making experience started in her outdoor kitchen. After working hard we sat down and ate a meal that included our pasta with Monica and Paolo, her husband, al fresco in their lovely backyard . We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
We had a great walking tour and introduction to the area with Monica and walked to her home where she and her husband gave us a most wonderful afternoon of eating, drinking and teaching us how to choose ingredients and how to make pasta!! We spent almost 5 delightful hours with them. We would highly recommend Monica and thank her for a very special experience. Molte grazzie!!
I liked the way that our host Monica showed the area within her cooking kitchen. Which is from spring to autum outside and only in winter and cool cpnditions inside.
Monica gave us an unforgettable cooking experience in Lucca. Being welcomed into her home to learn to cook was a privilege! We were extremely well taken care of, and learned a lot in the process. If you are spending time near Lucca, this is an experience that is not to bed missed!
If you love Italian food and culture and want to experience local hospitality, this is for you. My wife and I really enjoyed our time with Monica and her family who were so hospitable and made us feel very welcome in their home. Monica is very knowledgeable and passionate about showcasing good quality local products and sharing her knowledge, she was brilliant with our group and made us all feel very relaxed from start to finish. We really enjoyed it!
The collection point is not in the centre of Lucca, neither is the walking tour but do not let this deter you. A short taxi or bus ride takes you to the beautiful home of Monica and Paulo where we visited the local shop to gather the ingredients needed for the meal. The welcome given by both was wonderful, we were made to feel part of the family and the food and drink served was delicious. We were given cookery advice of how to successfully make pasta and two different sauces. The time allocated did need a lot longer than specified but this did not stop Monica, she continued in to her own time to make sure we all knew what to do and how to do it. It was certainly the best experience of our trip and I cannot wait to return. (I just wish I'd have taken more cash with me so I could give her a huge tip for going above and beyond - she really did deserve one!)
Lovely cooking experience with Monica and her family in her home! We made pasta and leaned about different cooking techniques. Lots of different breads and meat and a lovely salad. Even home made Prosecco! Really enjoyed our morning and felt grateful to be invited into Monica’s home 🙂
