Die Ausgrabungen von Pompeji sind außergewöhnliche materielle Zeugnisse der Antike, dank des Erhaltungszustands der Stadt, die praktisch intakt blieb, nachdem der Ausbruch von 79 n. Chr. sie aus der Vesuv-Landschaft ausgelöscht hatte.

Pompeji ist eines der bedeutendsten Zeugnisse der römischen Zivilisation und bietet wie ein offenes Buch hervorragende Informationen über Kunst, Bräuche, Handel und Alltagsleben der Vergangenheit. Die Stadt ist aus der Dunkelheit der Jahrhunderte genau so wieder aufgetaucht, wie sie war, als sie unerwartet unter der dicken Schicht aus Asche und Lava begraben wurde, die beim verheerenden Ausbruch des Vesuvs herabströmte. Das Ausmaß der Tragödie war entsetzlich: In einem der aktivsten und prächtigsten römischen Zentren kam das Leben für immer zum Stillstand. Die dicke Schicht vulkanischen Materials, die sie überflutete und die zu einem großen Teil aus Asche und Lapilli bestand – nicht hartes Material, anders als das, das Herculaneum bedeckte und das zu extrem hartem Stein erstarrte – hat dazu geführt, dass die Stadt bis heute intakt geblieben ist, nicht nur was ihre Gebäude betrifft, sondern auch was die Einrichtung der Häuser und Geschäfte betrifft, und bietet ein absolut faszinierendes Bild des „täglichen“ Lebens.

Our tour of Pompeii was amazing. Thanks to our tour guide, Veronica, we were able to see and learn about the history of this magnificent ancient city much more than we could have without her. Veronica was able to help us avoid the crowds while still efficiently hitting the top sites within the city.
Beautiful experience to discover Pompeii with a very good guide prepared and friendly, has managed to entertain everyone from the oldest to the youngest. In two hours we were able to better capture the beauties of the most famous archaeological site in the world! Highly recommended!!!🌶️

I highly recommend Discovering Pompeii!! This was one of our highlights in Italy. We booked a driver, who picked us up just outside the cruise ship. He messaged upon arrival, drove us to Pompeii directly to our own private guide. The guide was fantastic. So knowledgeable! Much more enjoyable with a private tour than a ton of people with an ear piece in. After our tour ended, we were brought to the same spot for pick up and a return to our ship. It was an excellent morning!! Pretty affordable for our group of 6, as well.

Veronica is an amazing and passionate guide who has such a wealth of knowledge not just of Pompeii but of the entire region! The history (also pre-roman) including political and geological context was very clearly explained. My daughter is learning about Greek and Latin mythology and she and Veronica could not stop talking about the various stories that came up in fresco's and statues. What was originally meant as a 2 hour guided tour ended up being a full morning of great conversations and passionate storytelling that really helped us visualize and understand life in Pompeii. Now we finally know where the red horn is really coming from 😀.
We have booked with this company a tour of the Pompeii Ruins. Veronica was our guide. She was professional, nice, prepared and very Flexible. He showed us a lot of things and with great enthusiasm delighted us with clear and simple language that makes us understand everything clearly, especially to my son who is small. Highly recommended.
