Vor 400 Jahren kamen die ersten Schiffe der Niederländischen Ostindien-Kompanie zurück in die Niederlande, gefüllt mit blauem und weißem Porzellan aus China. Dieses Porzellan wurde bei wohlhabenden Familien wie den europäischen Königshäusern sehr beliebt. Als der Import von chinesischem Porzellan infolge von Bürgerkriegen in China zurückging, nutzten die niederländischen Töpfereien die Gelegenheit und entwickelten ihre eigene Version dieses blauen und weißen Porzellans. Dies führte zur Geburt von Delfter Blau in den Niederlanden. Heutzutage ist Delfter Blau ein echtes Wahrzeichen der Niederlande.

Von den rund 32 Töpfereien, die im 17. Jahrhundert gegründet wurden, ist Royal Delft, die 1653 gegründet wurde, die einzige noch verbleibende Fabrik für Delfter Keramik in Delft. Es ist ein nationales Kulturerbe und ein absolutes Muss bei einem Besuch in den Niederlanden! Hier wird die berühmte Delfter Keramik nach Jahrhunderte alter Tradition immer noch komplett handgemalt. 1919 wurde das Unternehmen mit dem Präfix „Royal“ ausgezeichnet, das seine besondere Beziehung zur niederländischen Königsfamilie bestätigte. Seit Generationen sind die Mitglieder der niederländischen Königsfamilie große Bewunderer von Delfter Keramik. Heute ist Royal Delft nicht nur eine Fabrik für Delfter Keramik, sondern auch ein Wissensinstitut für Keramik und auch ein Museum. Bei einem Besuch von Royal Delft entdecken Sie die gesamte Geschichte und den Produktionsprozess von Delfter Keramik und Royal Delft in einer audiovisuellen Präsentation. Sie beobachten einen Maler bei der Arbeit und werden mit zwei weiteren Berühmtheiten Delfts in den Themenräumen bekannt gemacht: dem Speisesaal von Johannes Vermeer, dem berühmten Delfter Maler aus dem 17. Jahrhundert, und den Königlichen Räumen, die die Sammlung von Keramik für das Haus Oranien enthalten, die im Laufe der Jahrhunderte für die niederländische Königsfamilie hergestellt wurde. Im Museum können Sie die Sammlung antiker und moderner Delfter Keramik bewundern, und in der Fabrik können Sie den authentischen Produktionsprozess erleben. Im Ausstellungsraum finden Sie eine umfassende Sammlung handbemalter Töpferwaren von Royal Delft und eine Sammlung von Souvenirs. Royal Delft bietet Workshops an, bei denen Sie selbst versuchen können, Delfter Keramik zu bemalen. Die Brasserie mit Blick auf den schönen Innenhof serviert köstlichen Kaffee, Tee, Mittagessen und Nachmittagstee. Führungen sind in verschiedenen Sprachen verfügbar.

Total Delft is a procelain manufacturer located in the surroundings of Delft, a town in South Holland Region, in the Netherlands. We came here to visit this place and we could learn about the history of this manufacturing site and its relation with the Netherlands Monarchy. Really, very interesting explanations. Also, we could see a lot of porcelain objects, especially tableware. And you can go to the manufacturing site and see the real place (not only a museum). At the end of the museum, there is a shop, where you can buy a lot of porcelain objects. Very nice.
Fantastic! What a wonderful piece of history. And also new masters who give a contemporary twist to the current designs. Nice to walk through the factory. Really a candy factory with nice quality products. Take advantage of lunch or just coffee. Served in Delft blue tableware

It is very expensive to buy a piece of pottery here. It is clean. There was only one worker when we were there on Saturday in the factory when we were there so we did not see any pottery being made other than someone painting on a piece/
As you visited on a Saturday, only a limited number of our production staff were working in the factory. We understand that this may have reduced the opportunity to see the full production process in action. All of our Delft Blue pieces are still largely handcrafted by skilled artisans, and we hope that a visit provides insight into the time, craftsmanship, and expertise involved in creating them. It was extremely interesting to discover the origin of blue ceramics. How it has arrived in the country, how people have been trained to master the art, the evolution through the time.. another thing that was interesting was the urban part and a new part of the exhibit I also liked the fact I could discover it in both English and French (I’ve used the audio guide) Plus, we had the opportunity to watch the craftsman working, as we were walking through the museum /factory . I really enjoyed my visit over there and the kindness of the staff.
