Kingstown liegt 1 km südlich des Hauptstegs in der Thomson Bay und war ein Schwerpunkt der Operationen auf den Rottnest Islands im Zweiten Weltkrieg, da hier während der Kriegszeiten die australische Armee stationiert war. Die Unterkunft in der Kingstown Barracks wurde 1984/85 für Bildungszwecke eröffnet und ist für viele WA-Schulen zu einem beliebten Zeltlager geworden.
Wenn Sie auf der Insel sind, müssen Sie unbedingt die vielen Salzseen erkunden, die ungefähr 10 Prozent der Fläche einnehmen. Bemerkenswerte sind der Bagdadsee, der Vincentsee, der Herschelsee, der Gardensee, der Government House See und der Serpentine See. Diese Seen sind permanent und das ganze Jahr über zugänglich. Andere bemerkenswerte Seen, die im Sommer austrocknen können, sind der Pink Lake, der Lake Sirius, der Lake Negri und die Twin Pearse Lakes. Es ist bekannt, dass dieser Salzsee durch die Wechselwirkung zwischen den Algen und dem im Wasser wachsenden Salz rosa wird. Wenn die richtige Mischung aus Salz und Sonnenlicht mit den Algen in Wechselwirkung tritt, sammelt sich ein rotes Pigment an, das als Beta-Carotin bekannt ist, und führt zu einem rosa Schimmer im Wasser.
Henrietta Rocks ist ein Wahrzeichen der Insel Rottnest und wird häufig als Aussichtspunkt für einen malerischen Blick auf die Insel genutzt. Von hier aus können Besucher Dyer Island, das Wrack des Shark and Parker Point, sehen. Die bemerkenswerteste Sehenswürdigkeit ist das Wrack des Hais, das sich nur wenige Meter vom Ufer entfernt befindet.

Have your camera ready. Some interesting chats given. If you can't pedal a bike this is a great way to see the island and get some commentary.
Great experience, and Elli was very good at commentary and knowledge Only downside is Welcome to country, hear it at work and everywhere, it ruins the holiday experience..
Easy and informative coach tour around the island if you don’t want to bike it. Mick was a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide and it was good to discover the history of the island. Great photo opportunities and he also pointed out other places that were worth a visit.
We had a fabulous day on Rottnest. First time visitors. Was a bit overwhelmed by just how many people were there. Food at bakery and cafe opposite was beautiful. Actually it was nice at the cafe to get a very decent salad that accommodated DF and GF. We went on the Bayswater Tour. That was amazing. We learnt so much. Only negative was the unavailability of change rooms and a shower was off stand.
It was pleasant, informative and relaxing I will definitely be referring this trip to all my friends and family
You can see the whole picture of the island with the narration by the driver. It was good to know the history of the island from its discovery to aboriginal prison and military site and then now a popular holiday destination. On the island there are several beautiful beaches and the bus stops at a few spots where you can take photos

The bus trip was good but it was advertised in dollars ... not until I got my receipt did I know it was US $ . It should be in Aussie dollars for an Aussie based trip... price gouging

I've always enjoyed and taken the Rottnest Island hop-on hop-off bus service. It provides relatively cheap hassle-free transport around the Island and back to the settlement, where one can catch the ferry back to the mainland. However, it is a shame that the prices have increased to $30 per adult, with only a small discount for pensioners and students at $22. When you consider that, you only end up boarding the bus twice. Because of time constraints, you are not getting the best value for money.

Well run bus trip around the island, great commentary from Glenn. An excellent way to get to see the island especially if you are time limited and want to catch the highlights without the crowding of the hop on hop off busses.. Added to a great day on a stunning island. Even managed the obligatory Quokka selfie.
