We had to call to make sure that we were collected from our hotel, unfortunately we were not offered a ride home from the port. Not a big deal, but we prepared to get a taxi or Uber back to the hotel. The trip over to Rottnest on the boat was rough, multiple people vomiting, be prepared and take travel sickness meds before travel. Lots of Quokka's in the village when you arrive, great to see these very friendly marsupial's up close. The tour to the tunnels and the big gun was interesting and if you are a history buff you will enjoy it. The bus tour around the island was pleasant, although the bus driver although lovely was hard to hear in the middle of the bus and so that made it a little less enjoyable. The Boat ride back to Perth was a lot calmer than the outward bound trip. All in all, I would recommend taking this tour, just be sure to take the sea sickness tablets 30 mins before ;)
Thanks for your feedback, glad to hear that you overall enjoyed your experience with SeaLink and your visit to Rottnest Island. The weather can be a little 'tricky' in the winter months, but it also can be quieter on the island which brings a few more quokkas out to say hi! Thanks for choosing SeaLink.
Enjoyable day on the island, the guide was friendly and knowledgeable, the oliver guns and tunnel tour was very interesting
Collected from our hitel and very relaxing cruise down the Swan river. Enjoyed the boat then a train and a bus. Excellent tour of the gun tunnels with a very entertaining guide and then the bus took us all over the island with another very knowledgeable guide. Photographed some very cute quokkas and then had time for a cocktail at the pub and some shopping before catching the ferry back to Perth. Had no idea of all the history associated with Rottnest!
The Grand Island Tour is definitely a must do! Sounds like you had an amazing day, so glad SeaLink could be a part of it.
The tour was absolutely amazing. The guide for the Gun and tunnels tours was very informative. Specially our bus guide Leah was absolutely amazing and made the tour very interesting and entertaining.
That's so great to hear, thanks so much for the very positive feedback Rohit, we appreciate it!
Guides all very pleasant and enthusiastic about their subject. If you are pressed for time, the grand tour is well worth it.
Thank you, and yes, we agree. The Grand Island Tour is the most comprehensive tour of Rottnest, especially if you enjoy history. A bus tour of the island is also included, as well as a light lunch.
Complete tour very well done with enough time at each stop, nice light lunch, just a great adventure.
Brilliant John, thank you, and yes, the Grand Island Tour provides a full day of adventure, that's for sure.
Bring your togs - there may be swim at a beautiful bay. Lots of bicycles on the island. This tour covers a large part of the island
Great to hear, thank you for choosing to travel with SeaLink, and yes, togs are essential in this hot summer weather!
A lovely day out. Highly recommend. Fabulous scenery
Excellent, thanks for letting us know!
0830 depart from Barrack St Jetty. Lovely commentary from Sealink ferry pilot. Very tongue in cheek at times and fun. Arrived in Rottnest after about 90 mins. Smooth until into the open sea but worth it. Rottnest is a gem. Lost of bays etc to explore but we did this tour. Met host Fiona and caught the train to the Big Gun and tunnels. You do get long enough for a guided tour and the guides are excellent and so knowledgeable. Lunch provided (Chicken wrap) and then tour around the island. Passed/stopped many scenic points and bays. Occasional stop for photos or Quokkas although they do not really come out into the open until later. The event of the day was when our driver Fiona had a tyre blowout at Parakeet Bay. As replacement coach was sent for and arrived promptly. Poor Fiona came in for a bit of stick but she was trying to avoid abandoned bikes left by other island visitors. However this gave us a few more minutes at the bay and we were able to see a Stingray swim past. The ferry journey back was a bit choppy but all in all, a fantastic day. A final word for Fiona, thanks for being a great host and giving everyone a great day out.
Thank you so much for your detailed review, sounds like a comprehensive day out and a bonus longer stopat Parakeet Bay! Thank you for choosing SeaLink as your Rottnest Island ferry,
Referred to menu others Rottnest is certainly a Global Tourist Gem!!! I wasn’t prepared for the very bumpy ferry ride so here’s my advice. If staying in Perth City take a train to Fremantle and take the ferry from there to Rottnest . Firstly the fair on the ferry will be far cheaper and the train journey to Fremantle is only $3.50. Rottnest is just unreal. They advertise bikes a come the island however this is hard work on bikes that are heavy and robust . #The hop-on hop-off bus is fantastic for $30 . Drivers are great guides with Stop 11 the highlight stop for sure . There are good food choices on the island and a full supermarket. If travelling with a group. I lived The Bakery who have a great selection and great coffee. Plenary of sun cream is advised however you cannot beat the scenery . It’s a a photographers dream . I will be back at some stage in my life. Loved it.
We love your description of Rottnest as a Global Tourist Gem. And we certainly agree with you, Rottnest Island is soooooo beautiful, thank you for choosing SeaLink as your ferry to get there.
