Tour guide Norhan was super friendly and knows how to read old Egyptian script. We went around the Rosetta stone citadel place and she was trying to read the script on the stones we found. Driver Mahmood was super intuitive - he always knew where to stop or where to go slower even without me telling him, as if he read my mind, so I could get nice photo and video from the car on the go. Both Norhan and Mahmood calculated schedule in such a way that to ensure that I make it on time for my next programme plan after the end of the tour. Special thanks to driver Mahmood's mama for giving me tasty home made jam to take home with me. Enjoyed my trip to Rosetta (aka Rashid).
We booked this tour and paid in advance. We turned up at the appointed time to find no car, no driver, no guide, no trip on the Nile. In fact no tour at all. We had a totally wasted day. To avoid disappointment we would definitely not recommend Ramasside tours or Viator.
We’re really sorry about what happened. The company had to cancel the trip and issue a refund to the customer due to an unusual situation with the guide, which the customer made us aware of. However, it appears that the client either did not have internet access or did not check the email notifying them of the tour cancellation.
We were very disappointed in the tour as we paid extra for lunch and VIP treatment. The boat trip was a 10 minute ride up the river in a very small boat. It certainly wasn’t a cruise to the mouth of the Nile. We had to buy our own water during the tour. Our guide on the day did not know that lunch was included in our package and multiple calls and negotiation were needed to get agreement that lunch would be provided. The lunch that was then organised ended up being a very cheap and unappetising meal with no drinks or dessert included. I do not recommend this trip or tour company.
We had a wonderful time on our tour today. It was interesting to see where the Rosetta Stone was found, meeting with locals, and a casual boat ride. The driver and guide were punctual and very informative and accommodating.
Rashid (otherwise known as Rosetta) is where the famous stele was found that now rests in the British Museum. The Rosetta Stone was written in three different languages: Egyptian demonic script, Greek and Hieroglyphics and gave a direct clue to the transcription of Hieroglyphics. This town is located where the Nile Delta meets the Mediterranean Sea. Important industries are fresh and saltwater fishing, ship building and brick making.
Visit to the Castle build at the site of the Old lighthouse was my favurite part of the tour. Was a beautiful castle with amazing view of the seaside. Tour was very well organised by Ramasside Tours with local guide was Mohammed. Very comfortable car provided. Kohammed was a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We were given not only a good background of each location but also history of the city and Mohammed also advised us on what we could do in our spare time and also bought us lovely ice creams and coffee treats. One of my friend got ill and both Mohammed and the driver drive around the city early in the morning to find medications for her. Rosetta has 2 main attractions. Although the city might have some fly problems the second location of an old mosque by the river was amazing. The boat ride to the mosque was very nice and I loved just relaxing there. It was a private tour so we had a lot of flexibility if we wanted to extend and appreciate a location longer. The hotel was amazing and a lovely private beach and also next to Stanley Bridge with lots of cafes and beachside restaurants.
With the help of our professional guide we had the chance to see the fortress of Qaitbay in Rosetta (Rashid) where the Rosetta Stone was found. We also had a walk in the Souk to see the daily life of the people living there and to see nice old buildings from the 17th and 18th century. With a short boat trip we also reached the oldest mosque in the town. The only thing I would mention as an improvement is that the time defined on Viator is wrong. The tour takes about 4 to 5 hours including the transfer and not 8 to 9 hours.
We had an amazing day in Rosetta with guide Karim and driver Mohamed from Alexandria. They took us to places such as the Qaitbey fort, city museum, through the town/market, and a boat ride on the meeting of the Nile and Mediterranean. Throughout the day they were knowledgeable about everything. It was my friend's birthday and they got her a cake and smoothies, making her day even more special than it already was. Booking process was very easy and they accommodated a slightly later pick up time to give us time to check out for our last day. Highly recommend this tour and using the company for any other excursions in the great country of Egypt.
