I had naively assumed when the description said private tour it would be just that - a private tour with our group of 11. I did not realize we would be on a charter bus full of other people. The bus was adequate with decent air conditioning and the driver was excellent on those extremely narrow streets. We stopped on the way there and back at what can only be described as a tourist trap where they were selling many overpriced products. We were told that we would be stopping at a cafe. A cafeteria would have been a more adequate description. However - when we finally arrived at Montepulciano - it was breathtaking! Such an amazing quaint village! Our guide there was fantastic!! We arrived there a day after a concert in the town square so unfortunately they were taking down the large stage and there was such loud noise and deconstruction happening but I can imagine without that it would be quite lovely. We ate lunch at the winery there and it was disappointing. There was no teaching on how to make pasta. We were in a very large room with no air conditioning or fans. If there had been any air flow it would have helped tremendously! The wine was okay as was the pasta. I was expecting exceptional food and wine - not the case. I attempted to purchase a bottle of their balsamic vinegar afterward but found out it was 140 euros and they were out of any smaller bottles. Our next stop was Pienza. Another truly beautiful little town but we had very little time here so it felt quite rushed. Our guide Errica was truly wonderful!! She was extremely knowledgeable of the history of this region and an overall joy! She kept everyone on time but didn’t make you feel rushed. This is my honest review of this trip. In the end it was worth it to see these amazing little towns but the wine/food experience was sub par.
We enjoyed a great day with Errica our guide & Roberto our driver. We enjoyed a tasting of local products, a tour of Montepulciano (by local guides).Followed by a three course lunch with wine tasting. All made and or grown on the farm at Ristorante Fattoria Pulci and visit to Pienza. Try the pecorino gelato. Not to everyone’s liking but you have to try. Our guide Errica shared great information and made our day very enjoyable. The landscape is amazing.
It was great to be back in Tuscany. I took my sister, this was her first time in Italy. She loved everything, the food, the people, architecture and country side.
This might be our favorite excursion we took on our trip. Tuscany is beautiful, and Sarah did a great job with our tour. The highlight was Montepulciano where we had lunch at an Italian farm witn the most amazing food and wine. Super fun day seeing a lot in one trip. Highly recommend.
Full day of exploring beautiful Italy, great overview of Tuscany and comfortable bus ride with our great-safe driver Paolo! Marisa was great host and kept us informed and on time with all the activities, Grazie tante!!!
Very punctual, comfortable transport, and the guide is a true professional. Montepulciano, wonderful view, pure air, and greenery all across the horizon. Good service, delicious lunch, and good wine.
Lots of walking including some climbing steep hills for short distances. Beautiful scenery. Worth the time!
Great tour with Patritzia and Luca. Fernanda was a great tour guide. It was a fun filled day with a tour, lunch and wine. There are some hills on the tour but they were manageable for the 12 year old and the 75 year old. I highly recommend it!!
A perfect day tour to get a hint of the Tuscany region. Exploring Montepulciano and Pienza was amazing and the views are spectacular. The lunch served by a historic family and tasting their wines did not disappoint. I would recommend visiting if you have the time for an easy day trip! Much thanks to Jonathan for his knowledge and introduction to the history of the region.
The Tour was great! John (the tour guide) was extremely informative and knowledgeable about Italy and its history as a whole. We visited quite a few places, yet most amazing part was the Wine. He took us to a winery in Tuscany (or Toscani, as the locals would write it) that had been in existence since the 1500s and is still ran by the same family, which alone, is worth trip.
