Der Gianicolo-Hügel ist einer der besten Orte in Rom, um einen Panoramablick auf die Kirchenkuppeln und Glockentürme der Ewigen Stadt zu genießen. Auf der Piazza steht eine Statue von Giuseppe Garibaldi, einer der zentralen Figuren bei der Einigung Italiens im 19. Jahrhundert.
Die Tiberinsel ist eine winzige Insel in der südlichen Biegung des Tiber. Die Insel wird seit der Antike mit Heilung in Verbindung gebracht und beherbergt noch heute eines der Krankenhäuser Roms.
Der Konstantinsbogen, einer von mehreren Triumphbögen in Rom, befindet sich in der Nähe des Kolosseums und kann ohne Eintrittsgebühr besichtigt werden.
Der Circus Maximus ist ein antikes römisches Wagenrennstadion, das durch den Film „Ben Hur“ berühmt wurde. Es liegt im Tal zwischen den Hügeln Aventin und Palatin und war das erste und größte Stadion im antiken Rom und seinem späteren Reich.
Die Domus Augustana war der königliche Palast des Kaisers Augustus. Auf dem Palatin gelegen, konnte der Kaiser von seinem Zuhause aus die Wagenrennen im Circus Maximus verfolgen.
Das Teatro Marcello ist eine ungewöhnliche architektonische Stätte in Rom. Es handelte sich ursprünglich um eine Arena im antiken Rom, die in den späteren Jahren der Römischen Republik erbaut wurde. Viele Jahrhunderte später wurden auf dem Amphitheater Wohnhäuser errichtet. Heute zählen diese Wohnungen zu den teuersten Immobilien Roms und beherbergen die Wohlhabenden der Ewigen Stadt.
Machen Sie von der Rückseite des Kapitols aus eine Zeitreise in die Vergangenheit und besichtigen Sie das faszinierende Forum Romanum. Dieser öffentliche Raum war in der Antike das Zentrum des bürgerlichen Lebens und enthält die Ruinen vieler wichtiger Bauwerke, darunter das Podium, auf dem Marc Anton seine leidenschaftliche Rede über den Leichnam des ermordeten Julius Cäsar hielt.
Das Denkmal für Viktor Emanuel, den ersten König eines vereinten Italiens, ist ein gigantisches Denkmal aus weißem Marmor, das Herzstück der Piazza Venezia. Auf der anderen Seite der Piazza befindet sich der Balkon, von dem aus Mussolini während der Zeit des Faschismus seine berühmten Reden hielt.
Der Trevi-Brunnen ist der größte Barockbrunnen der Stadt und einer der berühmtesten Brunnen der Welt. Der Brunnen kam in mehreren bemerkenswerten Filmen vor, insbesondere in Federico Fellinis „La Dolce Vita“.
Das Pantheon, ein ehemaliger römischer Tempel für alle Götter, heute eine katholische Kirche, ist ein Wunderwerk römischer Ingenieurskunst. Sie werden sicherlich fasziniert sein von der Kassettendecke mit riesigem Oculus (breit genug, um einen Doppeldeckerbus durch zu senken!) HINWEIS: Die Besichtigung des Pantheons von außen ist kostenlos. Ab Juli 2023 ist ein Ticket für den Besuch des Innenraums erforderlich. Das Ticket kostet 10 Euro pro Person. Wenn Sie ins Pantheon möchten, können Sie Ihr Ticket vor Ort erwerben.
Diese Arena wurde im 1. Jahrhundert n. Chr. an der Stelle des Stadions des Domitian erbaut und später in einen Platz umgewandelt, der ein Beispiel für barock-römische Architektur ist. In seinen drei Brunnen sind bedeutende Skulpturen zu sehen. Die beeindruckendsten Stände in der Mitte der Piazza: Berninis wunderschöne Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Brunnen der vier Flüsse)
Am Petersplatz genießen Sie die weitläufige Piazza, die von Berninis eleganten Kolonnaden gesäumt wird, und die größte Kirche der Christenheit. Wenn es die Zeit erlaubt, können Sie die Basilika betreten (in der Hochsaison sind die Warteschlangen vor der Sicherheitskontrolle und der Kleiderkontrolle normalerweise sehr lang). BITTE BEACHTEN: Die Vatikanischen Museen sind in diesem Ausflug nicht enthalten.

Driver was 30 min late for pick up from the cruise ship. Was just my daughter and I with another family. The family just wanted to eat so didnt see as many sights as we could. Every stop they had to eat so took more time. Driver would drop us off at a corner and tell us to go see stuff. No direction of where to go. Still had to use Google maps and missed stuff like paletine hill because I wasnt told it was in the same area. Would have been nice to have the driver stay with us and tell us historical facts of the area. Would have been nice to have been provided a map so i could have guided us places alone. Very disappointing.
An exceptional tour of the highlights of Rome. Note, we booked a driver not a tour guide. However, our personal driver, Loretta, explained to us the fascinating history of many monuments of Rome. Her professionalism and beautiful personality is truly an awesome combination. Loretta ensured the day was well-structured to give us time to spend at each site, but without wasting time hanging around. We can only describe it as the perfect tour. If you want to see several sites and understand some of the less obvious background knowledge of Rome, Loretta is just the person; she is superb. We were equally impressed with her expert ability to safely and efficiently navigate the busy roads of Rome. We loved every minute of this tour! Loretta, sei semplicemente la migliore. Note: If you want to spend a lot of time at different sites such as queuing and going in the within the internal area of the Colosseum, you will need to be realistic about the time you have available. This tour is ideal for seeing several key sites - 'a taste of Rome'.

Matteo was the best driver and guide for our tour! He picked us up on time from the cruise port and drove us the hour into the city, the whole time educating us about Rome and the surrounding area. He even had lunch recommendations and booked us a table at a great pizza place. Matteo offered us cold water and gave us plenty of free time at many stops to explore on our own. We had an amazing experience with Matteo. He was an excellent guide. On Viator it listed out a different itinerary which I wasn’t thrilled about since it only drove by the Colosseum and didn’t stop at the Spanish Steps. I debated whether to use this company or another but decided to go with this one and talk to the driver. We didn’t even need to bring this up because Matteo was already planning to make the changes we had wanted. Circus Maximus is not really worth stopping at, it is more a drive by attraction too. He knows the city and what he is doing. He even gave dining recommendations and made reservations for us. I highly recommend this company and I hope you get Matteo.

We had a FANTASTIC time in Rome! Our tour guide was Matt from Driver in Rome. BEST tour guide ever! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Rome. We went to the Colosseum, Roman ruins, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and St. Peter’s Basilica. Also treated us to two unscheduled stops at St. Paul & St. Peter’s Basilica and the Spanish Steps. He made lunch reservations at a restaurant for our group of 8. Amazing carbonara! Took us to a local gelato shop…yum! Thanks Matt!!

Matteo is an an amazing, excellent, talented and informative tour guide and driver. He not only met our expectations but overwhelmingly exceeded it. He gave us the opportunity to visit all the main attractions considering the very crowded and busy day in Rome today (5/28/2026). Matteo took us to eat lunch at a restaurant where locals eat; away from the tourists area - Goose Restaurant. The quality of the food was excellent. It was very “Rome”. Matteo was a fantastic guide, we got to see the highlights of Rome! The air conditioned van was a HUGE bonus it was 32 degrees Celsius. We had a fair amount of time to take photos and sight see, if you’re big into shopping there isn’t enough time in this tour.

I had an absolute incredible time! It was well worth the price in my opinion. The length was perfect, if not almost short but we got so much done it’s hard to complain. Matteo was our driver and guide and he was amazing. He answered all our questions and gave us the right amount of info without being overly chatty. I highly suggest!
