We had a great time! Much enjoyed being able to chat with our friendly guide Evelyn, who shared a lot of insight and fun facts about the job and what goes into taking care of their beloved reindeer :)
The reindeer are so soft and the guide was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We took a short walk to the reindeer pens. We fed the reindeer. We posed with the reindeer while someone else in the group would take your picture. Not sure what I was expecting…. we drove quite a ways to spend 30 minutes with the reindeer while someone. The directions could have been better.
This was a fun little excursion about an hour outside of Fairbanks. You’ll spend 30 minutes at the pens with the reindeer feeding them. They host small groups for ample opportunity to interact. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. The base camp is amazing you can do multiple excursions there so if you are interested in other activities you may want to bundle them all in one location. There is also a cafe on sight.
He explained it in great detail, and I got to touch a lot of reindeer. I was grateful that everyone was kind to my children. This time it was just an activity, but if you can get a reservation, I think it is a place where you can enjoy staying. You should drive carefully in winter. Wi-Fi is available when you get there, but there is no signal on the way.
We traveled from Pennsylvania to Alaska. The Reindeer Meet and Greet was a great experience. My daughters (4 and 18) lived every moment!
We had fed reindeer in Norway, and this did not compare. If it's all you will ever do with reindeer, though, don't miss it! You are taught about reindeer as you pet and feed the four they have, there, in three pens. One didn't want to relate to us, so that left three. One we couldn't get in the pen with, so we could only really relate to two. It was fun to feed them, and I did learn even more about reindeer. The Basecamp Adventure people mixed this with a dinner and the dog sledding, calling it a "half-day" experience. It was really a three hour experience spread over six hours, with a lot of waiting.
A cute reindeer retreat where you are able to pet, feed and take photos with the reindeer they have out. The three reindeer we got to meet were friendly and very cute. Our guide was sweet and informative. Just a short walk from the base camp where you are able to go back to and have yourself a warm drink and enjoy the beautiful view.
Family friendly and great guide. The guest lodge is accommodating enough. Staff seems pleasant. Family
Thanks so much for visiting us!
Our guide was super friendly but this place is a little far from Fairbanks, also, the reindeers are a little out of control, they kept ramming into us.
Thank you for joining us and for sharing your experience, we’re sorry the distance and the reindeer behavior felt challenging; our team works carefully to keep guests safe while still allowing natural interaction, and we’ll share this feedback with our handlers so we can continue improving both comfort and safety for future visits.
We got to pet and feed reindeer as we learned about the herd and specific reindeer we met. So worth it!
Thank you for visiting!! Great to hear you had a good time!
