Die ikonische Koutoubiya-Moschee wurde im 12. Jahrhundert während der Herrschaft des Almohadenreichs erbaut.Ihr Name bedeutet "Bibliothekar", da die Gegend in der Nähe einst ein Zentrum für Buchhändler und Gelehrte war.Es ist immer noch ein aktiver Ort für Gottesdienste;Besucher können einfach nur ihr atemberaubendes Äußeres bewundern.Die Moschee und ihr Turm zeigt klassische Almohaden-Architektur, die für ihre Einfachheit und Symmetrie bekannt ist.Sie diente als Modal für ihre Zwillingsmoscheen in der heutigen Hauptstadt Marokkos Rabat und auch la Giralda in Sevilla, da sie beide vom Almohadenreich im 12. Jahrhundert erbaut wurden.

Das Geheimnis dieses Ortes ist, dass es noch die alten Wasserwirtschaftssysteme aus dem späten 11. Jahrhundert hervorhebt.

Die Medersa Ben Youssef war eine Unterkunftsuniversität, die mehr als nur eine islamische Schule war.Sie bietet atemberaubende Beispiele traditioneller marokkanischer Architektur und komplizierter geometrischer Fliesenarbeiten, die das Können und Handwerk der Handwerker jener Epoche des 16. Der Gebetssaal mit seiner eleganten Mihrab (Gebetsnische) ist ein weiteres Highlight der Medersa. We booked this walking tour of the Medina with some hesitation – traveling with three young children (9, 7, and 4) can be unpredictable – but it turned out to be the absolute highlight of our week in Marrakech. Our guide, Redouan Adib, was simply outstanding. From the moment we met in Jemaa el-Fnaa, Redouan made everyone feel at ease. He has a natural gift for storytelling and was very knowledgeable. He adjusted the pace perfectly for little legs, stopped whenever our youngest needed a break, and somehow turned every corner of the souk into an adventure. What could have been an overwhelming maze felt safe, fun, and utterly enchanting under Redouan’s guidance. He shared the real life of the Medina – not just the tourist sights – and his passion for his city is contagious. We laughed, we learned, and we left with hearts full and dozens of incredible photos. If you’re visiting Marrakech with kids (or without!), do yourself a favor and book this tour with Redouan. It wasn’t just a tour – it was pure magic. Redouan was amazing. He was very accommodating and flexible with the tour. He changed it as we went based on out interests. He also showed us some hidden gems in the big market to get good quality products that we alone couldn’t have found. We had a great time. We learned the history of Marrakesh and Morocco and visited some of the major sites in the old city. We took the tour on our first day in the in the city and that gave us a good orientation and ideas for more exploring.
