Corona ist das kulinarische Epizentrum der lateinamerikanischen Gemeinschaft New Yorks, ein Ort, an dem Sie regionale Spezialitäten finden, die von Feuerland bis zur Nordgrenze Mexikos zu den Vereinigten Staaten reichen. Auf dieser Tour zu den kulinarischen Highlights von Corona gehen wir an einem Samstag auf die Straße, wenn die Bratpfannen und Grills in diesem ohnehin schon lebhaften Viertel Überstunden machen und die Straßenverkäufer in voller Pracht auf den Markt kommen. Beginnend am Corona Plaza besuchen wir eine familiengeführte mexikanische Bäckerei für süßes Frühstücksgebäck. Von dort aus geht es weiter zu einem abgelegenen Ort, wo wir uns mit Familien aus der Nachbarschaft zusammensetzen und einen herzhaften mexikanischen Brunch mit in der Grube gebratener Ziege genießen. Wir fahren weiter entlang der Roosevelt Avenue, machen Halt bei Straßenverkäufern und einer argentinischen Bäckerei und machen Halt für einen „Cholado“. Wir lassen unseren Tag in einer kleinen Bodega ausklingen. Dieser letzte Stopp bringt uns am Rande von Jackson Heights und Elmhurst zurück, Ich habe ausprobiert, was Queens zu einem kulinarisch so gelobten Land macht.

Dieser letzte Stopp führt uns am Rande von Jackson Heights und Elmhurst zurück, zwei Einwandererviertel, die über ihre eigenen kulinarischen Reichtümer verfügen (und die wir im Rahmen unseres längeren Spaziergangs durch Queens weiter erkunden), eine verlockende Erinnerung daran, was wir an diesem halben Tag getan haben kratzte nur an der Oberfläche dessen, was Queens zu einem kulinarisch so gelobten Land macht.
