We had a wonderful time learning about the local history of Ennis and surrounding areas with Dr. Jane O'Brien on this casual walk through the old town. Being a local, she provided an in-depth history of this lovely medieval market town and also answered questions and provided insights back to the neolithic, bronze and iron ages.
We had a lovely time walking through history and matching it with food items. There was enough time for photo ops at each stop. It was fun watching each new item appear from Dr Jane's bag. The grand finale was a wonderful sit with great food. My only regret was that we didn't have time to make it back to Ennis for one of the music sessions recommended by the owner of the lovely gourmet food shop that was our last stop. I believe it would be a tour enjoyed by young and old alike.
Had an amazing time on the tour. Great information about the area. Love the food coordinated with the history. Highly recommend.
A great introduction to Ennis and Irish history. Jane was very knowledgeable and the level of detail was guided by our questions and knowledge levels. The pace was excellent and it was like a walk with a friend explaining where they live.
Jane has an incredible recall on all things Ennis related. Her sense of humor was wonderful and she answered our group’s questions with ease. The walking is not difficult. Ennis is a very clean town with lots of history. It was a great way to get a feel for this lovely town.
Jane provided a deep and knowledgeable understanding of the history of this town from its inception to modern day. Her personable manner and genuine interest in learning about the group made it our time very enjoyable. She answered our questions, provided interesting stories associated with the buildings we visited as well as some folk lore. I highly recommend this tour. Great introduction to appreciating this lovely town even more! Ruth Cioffredi
Jane was very knowledgeable about both the history and the present day in Ennis! We walked many streets and learned so much of the hidden treasures. I only wished it was longer and included a cup of tea!
I’ve been going to Ennis for many years as I have family there. This time I decided to actually learn about the town. Dr. O’Brien’s tour was great. My cousin and I learned the significance of many places we had previously just passed by. Dr O’Brien’s tour brought Ennis to life! Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time on the Ennis Walking Tour with Dr. Jane O'Brien. Jane was full of stories and historical information on the town of Ennis, as well as Irish culture in County Clare. She was engaging, fun, and witty as we walking through a number of sections of historical Ennis. Jane answered all of our questions and encouraged us to explore beyond her walk. We ended up seeing her later at the Clare Museum, which she encouraged us to go to, where we also had a lovely chat with Carmel who works at the Ennis Tourist Information Office inside the Clare Museum. We highly recommend Jane's tour! And visit to the Clare Museum.
Great introduction to Ennis (and Ireland since we just arrived)! Jane walked us among the streets as she described the history of Ennis and pointed out historical buildings. Highly recommended!
