Provins mittelalterliche Stadt

Hello, this very low rating does not concern the city of Provins. This city has a lot of charm, and I recommend visiting it. However, the medieval events should be avoided.... The entrance fee is high for the services offered in recent years: 11 to 13 euros to see a few groups and mainly standard food stalls that have nothing to do with the medieval theme, plus very little craftsmanship and historical reenactment... Too many people; we can't even see the grand parade because we can no longer move around the city... Great disappointment compared to this same festival that was fantastic 3 to 5 years ago... It has become commercial, too touristy; in short, it has lost all cultural value... Just some diversity that feels a bit fake... It's a shame that the people who taught us about this period have left (they were true enthusiasts...). Brief does not recommend....

Big disappointment this year. 12 euros for entry, not clearly stated on the flyer. Too many people, poor organization. I am really very disappointed.

We went to the medievals of Provins for the first time this year (40 years). It's a great party, if only on the street with all these people playing the game in costume. The street walks to music, dance....set a great atmosphere. We also made a show meal, GREAT, in the restaurant "banquet des troubadours", not to be missed (booked in February). Congratulations to the city of Provins and all the people who mobilize for this exceptional event.

Provins is a very nice town that we visited on August 2 (see: Fun fact). You immediately feel like you're in the Middle Ages when you walk around. The octagonal tower Tour César is really fun to climb. A short animated film about the origins of Provins is shown at the bottom of the tower. Also visit the medieval bookstore Le Roy Lire at the bottom of the cellar. Located at number 9 Rue de Jouy. Fun fact: After the victory over the English, Joan of Arc convinces Charles VII to go to Reims to be crowned king. Not an easy task, because Reims was still occupied by the English at that time. But Reims is recaptured without much difficulty. And on July 17, 1429, Charles VII was officially crowned King of France, in the presence of Joan of Arc. After his coronation, King Charles VII travels to Provins together with Joan of Arc. They stay there from August 2 (!) to August 5, 1429.
