Privater typischer Kochkurs mit einer costaricanischen Familie

Beschreibung

We had such a wonderful time with this experience - a very engaging tour of their organic farm, a delicious Costa Rican meal, and an amazingly kind family! This was a highlight of our trip for all of us (adults and kids ages 11 and 13).
This experience was the best one yet out of my entire vacation in Costa Rica. I went with my dad and we both gave it a 10/10. Hubert was an excellent host, and we also got to meet the volunteers helping him, who were both very nice. We were left in awe as we picked up our ingredients from the great variety of plantations he has. The cooking class was top tier; we felt very comfortable in their home, and his wife was amazing to learn from. We also got to meet another couple doing the experience and had a great time talking about our travels. It was awesome. I would do this over and over again if I could. Definitely the best money we spent on our trip. If you are reading this, please don’t hesitate to try this experience. 😁
Very cool experience. Delicious food. Enjoyed the hands on aspect. Family was delightful. Enjoyed the garden!
Daughter’s favorite experience. Walked the farm to learn about some of the foods and pick some food for our dinner. Daughter loves to learn and said she learned so much. We also had sugar cane juice, delicious! Then we went inside to help make dinner. Son said it was top ten of the best meals he has ever had. Loved talking too and asking any questions we wanted about Costa Rican life!
Hubert and his family made us feel welcomed in their home while he provided SO much information about their organic family farm. We saw the plants for things we’d only seen in grocery store form (turmeric, peanuts, stevia, etc). We also saw oregano the size of a 6 foot bush- who knew it grew that big!! We made a delicious sugar cane drink with mint, ginger, basil, turmeric, lemon grass, and sugar cane juice. So refreshing! Then Hubert’s mom showed us how to make homemade tortillas and we joined them in their kitchen for a family meal. The best way to experience culture is sharing a meal.
Amazing experience! While it was light on actual cooking (we chopped veggies and learned how to make tortillas while the chef cooked), the whole evening was wonderful. We got a tour of a beautiful reclaimed, organic farm during which we sampled and picked about 20 different fruits, herbs, and veggies. Then the owner found us two poison dart arrow frogs and two sleeping sloths. We squeezed sugar cane and sampled homemade rum. We "cooked" dinner and ate a delicious meal of chicken and rice, black beans, fried plantain, yucca, and molasses-baked squash followed by homemade (and homemade grown) chocolate and coffe. THEN the owner took us on a nighttime tour to spot different frog species and the sloths again. A wonderful evening with great hosts. Two thumbs up!
We had a great time discovering the flora in the finca of Don Huber with French volunteers in guide. Beautiful moment of sharing in small groups and it is pleasant to finish this tour with a cooking class and tasting a cocktail based on harvested products. The icing on the cake nocturnal visit to discover frogs , snakes or even sloth proposed by Don Huber the same evening, very beautiful activity!
After a very warm welcome we were guided through the wonderful garden. There we learned a lot about plants, their properties and what healing powers they possess. Together we collected and tasted all kinds of fruits, seeds and spices. That was so interesting! Afterwards, we squeezed sugarcane juice by hand and enriched it with the previously collected ingredients. That was so delicious! Together with Huber’s family and volunteers we cooked a traditional dinner and had dinner together. For dessert we had homemade chocolate - we have never eaten such good chocolate! *_* We thank you very much for this unique experience and also for joining us in search of frogs and sloths afterwards - thank you very much!
We had a great time touring the farm and cooking with the family in their home. It's so wonderful they're willing to open their private space to share this experience with people. The family has a great amount of knowledge to share and are passionate about what they do. The food was wonderful and fresh as you help bring some of it in from the fields. Highly recommend this tour! I would recommend bug spray for the walk through the farm though if you're a mosquito attractor like me.
Plantation/garden/farm tour was fabulous! We saw all of the plants and fruits and learned how they are used in different capacities. We also picked ingredients for the juice we pressed and for the dinner we made. While we had a translator who was very good, speaking Spanish would have made the cooking/eating portion more immersive.
