This was our first time surfing. Jason was an excellent surf instructor! We were able to stand up within the first couple of waves!! Jason’s enthusiasm and love of surfing made the experience so much fun and his encouraging words made it possible to keep trying even when the waves were kicking our butt. Highly recommend Jason! Highly recommend Jason as a surf instructor! I had tried surfing before and couldn’t get up on the board. Surfing is not easy , learning balance and a completely new technique takes time — but Jason’s patience, great instructions, and constant encouragement made all the difference. He explained everything so well, kept me motivated, and thanks to him I was finally able to get up on the board. Such an amazing teacher and a great experience overall. Thank you, Jason!

Highly recommend Costa Surf and Jason if you're looking to surf in Tamarindo! Of the three different instructors I had traveling around Costa Rica, Jason was by far the best. He is very knowledgeable and attentive, always making sure you're safe and not left alone battling the waves. Jason doesn't just tell you what to do, but he teaches you to read the waves and help you develop your skills so you can continue more independently in the future. His enthusiasm and passion for surfing is genuine and very contagious! The value for money, pictures, videos and overall service is top tier 🥇

I had my very first surfing lesson here in Tamarindo with him and it was an amazing experience. Since I had never stood on a surfboard before, he was incredibly patient, motivational, and consistent throughout the lesson. After every attempt to catch a wave, he carefully explained the techniques and gave clear feedback that really helped me improve and feel more confident. Highly recommended for beginners (and advanced ones as well) !

This was so much fun! He was so great at explaining how to get up and me and my boyfriend both got up every time and had the best time! Would be great for families and kids!!

Absolutely amazing experience. He was so informative, helpful and resourceful. This is way better than doing a big group lesson. More one on one time and more time in the water. He makes you feel very welcoming, you feel like a real local at home.
