Das historische Gebäude des Prager Hauptbahnhofs, das 1909 eröffnet wurde, ist ein Paradebeispiel für die lokale Jugendstilarchitektur. Es wurde kürzlich rekonstruiert und bietet unglaubliche Schönheit in seinen Sälen und Korridoren.
Die Jerusalem-Synagoge aus dem Jahr 1906 ist im für Synagogen typischen maurischen Stil erbaut und enthält Elemente des damals beliebten Jugendstils.
Auf einem der Plätze der Neustadt befinden sich drei luxuriöse Apartmentgebäude aus der Jugendstil-Ära, die gute Beispiele für die typischsten Merkmale der Prager Architektur dieser Epoche darstellen.
Das Hotel Central aus dem Jahr 1899 ist eines der frühesten Jugendstilgebäude Prags.
Das 1905 geplante Prager Gemeindehaus dient noch heute als Kultur- und Repräsentationshaus für Prag. Es ist eines der größten und bedeutendsten Werke der Prager Jugendstilarchitektur.
Aufgrund seiner zentralen Lage und stilistischen Reinheit ist das Haus zur Schwarzen Madonna aus dem Jahr 1912 das Flaggschiff der kubistischen Architektur, wie sie von Prager Architekten in den Jahren vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg entwickelt wurde.
Der Grenzboulevard zwischen der Prager Altstadt und der Neustadt umfasst mehrere Bank- und andere Gebäude im atemberaubenden Jugendstil.
Als einzigartiges Straßenmöbelstück bleibt der kubistische Laternenpfahl eine der radikalsten Interventionen, die dieser Stil in Prag hervorgebracht hat.
Einer der zentralen Plätze in der Prager Innenstadt bietet mehrere wunderschöne Jugendstilhotels und Kaufhäuser.
In dieser Straße befinden sich mehrere atemberaubende Gebäude im Jugendstil und im Kubismus.
Die Häusergruppe unter dem Felsen der Vyšehrad-Festung ist bis heute eines der berühmtesten Bauwerke des kubistischen Stils.
Inspiriert von gotischer und barocker Architektur wurde dieses kubistische Meisterwerk 1912 am Ufer der Moldau erbaut.
Eine Straße mit einem beeindruckenden kubistischen Wohnhaus aus dem Jahr 1913 rundet den Rundgang ab.

We are extremely grateful to our tour guide, Max, who helped us out with language translation issue with train station staff at the beginning of our tour! This tour is a great option to explore some of Prague’s most iconic Art Nouveau sites, though those seeking a deeper, more academic analysis of the architecture may find it a bit lighter in detail.
Dear Annie, thank you for your feedback. When I put a tour together, I first build a narrative that is going to be interesting for seasoned veterans as well as engaging for someone completely new to the subject. My goals are to let people see the historical architecture in a different light, by pointing out hidden details and telling engaging stories. I focus on building on the information people already know and presenting only things people can actually remember. I focus on things that are explainable within a few minutes so that the tour doesn't get stuck on a spot. But make no mistake, all of the light approach is founded in a lot of reading, visiting exhibitions and travelling various European cities. I don't expect people to seek out a tour for an academic analysis. IMHO, there are better formats for that than a tour is, like books and lectures. Nevertheless, a beauty of a private tour is you can always let your tourguide know the way they're doing it is not cutting it for you. And a good tour guide can always tailor things for you, if you let them know. But I get it. There is a risk of possible confrontation in this, and you had enough of that already that day. I would really love to answer any remaining questions you have about Prague Art Nouveau. Point you towards the right literature if neccessary. The buildings we visited were great. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. There is walking involved and it can go longer than the 2.5 hours.

This tour was a unique and fascinating way to orient us to Prague. Max is brilliant and engaging, we enjoyed touring the city and being surprised from every new vantage point. Although we began with very little knowledge of art nouveau and cubism, we found at the end of our tour that we could recognize and discover for ourselves examples of these styles across the city. I would absolutely recommend Max and this tour to anyone visiting this beautiful and historic city.
