Wir beginnen unser Abenteuer in der schönen Dresdner Altstadt und die erste Station wird die katholische Hofkirche sein, die als eines der Wahrzeichen Dresdens gilt. Als diese Kathedrale im 18. Jahrhundert erbaut wurde, war die allgemeine Bevölkerung Dresdens protestantisch, aber ihre Herrscher waren katholisch. In der Krypta ist das Herz von König August dem Starken begraben, zusammen mit dem letzten König von Sachsen und den Überresten von 49 anderen Mitgliedern der Familie Wettin sowie den Überresten von Personen, die in die Familie geheiratet haben, wie beispielsweise Prinzessin Maria Carolina von Savoyen, Ehefrau von Antonius von Sachsen.
Ganz in der Nähe können wir uns die schöne Semperoper anschauen, die als eines der schönsten europäischen Opernhäuser gilt. Das Gebäude gilt als Musterbeispiel der Dresdner Barockarchitektur und hat eine lange Geschichte von Uraufführungen, darunter bedeutende Werke von Richard Wagner und Richard Strauss.
Unser nächster Halt wird im weltberühmten Zwinger sein, einem der prächtigsten Barockgebäude Deutschlands. Mit seinen Pavillons und Galerien, dem „Kronentor“, dem „Nymphenbad“ und nicht zuletzt den Gärten im Zwingerhof ist es eine Oase für jeden Dresdenbesucher.
Wir bewegen uns zum Star unserer Tour: Das Dresdner Schloss, eines der wichtigsten Beispiele der Renaissancearchitektur in Deutschland. In mehr als sieben Jahrhunderten war es die Residenz der Kurfürsten und Könige von Sachsen aus dem Hause Wettin. Lernen Sie mit Hilfe Ihres erfahrenen Führers etwas über eines der ältesten Königshäuser Europas, das House of Wettin, eine Dynastie deutscher Grafen, Herzöge, Kurfürsten und Könige, die einst Territorien der heutigen Bundesländer Sachsen und Thüringen regierten seit 953 Jahren.
Eine Besichtigung von Dresden ist ohne einen Besuch der berühmtesten Wahrzeichen der Stadt unvollständig: die Lutherische Liebfrauenkirche. Es gilt als herausragendes Beispiel für die protestantische Sakralarchitektur mit einer der größten Kuppeln Europas. Die Einheimischen sagen auch: "Die Kirche ist für Dresden die St. Paul's Cathedral für London".
Das Beste kommt noch! Wir werden unsere Tour mit Blick auf das größte Porzellan-Kunstwerk der Welt beenden: Die Prozession der Fürsten. Das Wandgemälde zeigt die Ahnenporträts der 35 Markgrafen, Kurfürsten, Herzöge und Könige des Hauses Wettin zwischen 1127 und 1904 und befindet sich an der Außenmauer des Stallhofs des Dresdner Schlosses.

We did the tour with a small group. We found it very good and informative. He addressed our wishes and sensibly included breaks for drinks.

We didn’t know what to expect from Dresden and ended up very pleasantly surprised. Our tour guide Cosima was wonderful! She began by asking if there was anything specific we wanted to see or focus on, but we left it up to her. The old town has been very well reconstructed. Cosima described Dresden’s past, both 100s of years ago as well as the last ~50years as both have shaped what it looks like today. We only had an afternoon while traveling between Berlin and Prague, having the private tour was well worth it to us to see the city in such a short amount of time. I would highly recommend Cosima as your guide when you are in Dresden.

My husband and I met our guide, Helga under the statue of King Johann. Helga was on time but was confused as she thought she was going on a bus trip. Helga was very knowledgeable and we took our time exploring the baroque architecture and discovering various beautiful buildings such as The Zwinger and the Semper Opera House and the procession of Princes. However, Helga did not engage with us, didn’t offer to take photos. We had to ask, and when we reached Neumarkt, which I said I loved, didn’t offer to walk us around. She told us that the tour has now ended. We stayed static outside the Frauenkirche and we had 15 minutes left! If a tour advertises that it for two hours, then you expect to get your moneys worth and have a two hour tour. Not one hour and 45 minutes! We left, feeling disappointed as we had travelled from Berlin for the day.
