We had the most wonderful time with Geraldine. She welcomed us into her home and provided yummy juices for us before we started cooking. She taught us how to cook some delicious dishes while we exchanged stories and laughs. I can’t wait to see Geraldine again one day!
She was very personable. She taught me how to shop at the local market and how to make one my favorite meals. I felt like family at her home. I will definitely book her again.
We booked the market shopping to get the full experience. If you go on this activity with an open mind and you are willing to be hands on, you will have an amazing experience! I'm going back to Canada with a new recipe in hands!
Geraldine is a friendly and warm host. She is genuine, a good communicator and was eager to select a menu that we liked. The market visit was interesting and fun. She showed us various items and explained how she uses them for cooking. She also took us to a store where we could buy spices. We made Kontomire (coco yam leaf) stew, and it was delicious. Geraldine premade Nkate Cake (peanut brittle) as a sweet treat for dessert. This was greatly appreciated. We had a wonderful time with Geraldine and highly recommend this experience.
Wonderful experience!! Geraldine is an amazing cook and such a gracious host. Would definitely recommend, the meal we made for dinner was delicious, we loved learning what it takes to make amazing jollof rice and fish stew and appreciated the hands on experience! Great conversations too - Loved learning about how she found her love for cooking and what her day to day life is like. Side note: loved how she paid special attention to food safety and cleanliness.
I've done cooking classes while traveling in a few different countries, and this was truly a special experience. Geraldine is humble when she teaches, but she is masterful at her craft. She's so kind and welcoming - answering our questions, exchanging life experiences, and more. We learned to make a one-pot jollof rice with fried fish, and a Ghanaian salad. It was so so good. Not a demonstration - we all got to get in there and cook together. Highly highly recommend.
A hands-on cultural experience, shopping at the local market was a plus. And then to see Patience and her daughter cook outside was nice. The jollof rice was delicious!
Geraldine was so very nice to welcome us to her home and introduce us to Ghanaian cooking. We did the jollof rice with beef, and afterward had a nice meal with good flowing conversation and a nice refreshing drink. Thank you again Geraldine!!!!
This will be added to one of my most memorable moments in Ghana. Geraldine is welcoming and super friendly. She made us feel like family from the moment we entered her home. The preparation of the food was practical and very hands on. The jollof with gravy was amazing. My favorite was the egusi and very delicious. I cannot wait to try these recipes at home with my family. I will say getting that when traveling to Ghana you must have patience. There was traffic but Geraldine and our Uber drive helped us find our way.
It was a great experience with Geraldine. We first went to the market with her and were able to pick the menu we wanted to cook. The market visit with a local was a very special experience. At Geraldines home we cooked Peanut Soup with Rice Balls and Palaver Sauce with Yam. Geraldine is an amazing cook and it was so much fun to spend time with her in the kitchen. After cooking we enjoyed an amazing meal and had very insightful discussions about the culture in Ghana. We would definitely recommend you the experience - one of the highlights on our 2.5 weeks trip through Ghana.
